QB Scramble: AFC South Edition

  • by
Fantasy Football 2025

As another NFL season concludes, the most anticipated time of the year finally approaches… The NFL Offseason.

This is one of my favorite times of the year. I enjoy predicting offseason moves and trying to anticipate big acquisitions before they happen.  I’ve done extensive research on how each QB opening could potentially be filled this offseason. I feel ready for the NFL offseason, and the Super Bowl hasn’t even kicked off yet.

In my attempts to fill in the blanks through extensive research, there is always a chance that some of that research could be making something out of nothing. Please keep in mind that this is all speculative writing that hasn’t been provided insider information; therefore, you should take this input “with a grain of salt.”

I still hope you all enjoy this series, nonetheless, as I predict the quarterback rooms for each NFL franchise in 2025. Today’s article focuses on the first division of the AFC South.

2025 AFC South QB Room Predictions

Houston Texans

Quarterbacks: C.J. Stroud, Case Keenum

Although fantasy football managers might not be too happy with CJ Stroud after his sophomore season, the Houston Texans should be more than happy with what they saw out of their franchise quarterback last season. Most of Stroud’s sophomore season consisted of him playing “Hero Ball” for the Texans offense, but to his defense, this offseason was plagued by injuries most of the year. What started out as an offensive juggernaut with multiple WR1s, as well as the addition of Joe Mixon, has turned into an offense looking for more pieces in 2025 to give Stroud a fighting chance. With most of the draft picks and cap space filling out the rest of the Texan’s holes on the depth chart, hopefully, Keenum will return to Houston, remaining as a veteran mentor to Stroud.

Fantasy Advice: Stroud’s sophomore slump is over, and he could be a great QB2 buy.

Indianapolis Colts

Quarterbacks: Aaron Rodgers, Anthony Richardson

This acquisition will likely be the most exciting move to happen in the AFC South this offseason. Though, I think that might be easy to beat if the Titans move out of the first overall pick in preference to Derek Carr. Plus, we have Liam Coen going viral for his pronunciation of “Duval,” as well. Nonetheless, “Aaron Rodgers Tuesdays” on the Pat McAfee show might come with a little more juice.

Does it sound a little too predictable for Aaron Rodgers to join the Colts in order to do in-show appearances on a weekly podcast? Not to mention that it would spite the Jets organization if the reports are true that they didn’t want Rodgers appearing on the show anymore in order to return to the team in 2025. Yeah, it feels a little too predictable. Sometimes, when it is this predictable, you just don’t have to overthink it. I won’t go as far as suggesting the Colts trade Anthony Richardson to the Jets for Davante Adams, but I’ll tell you all that I’m definitely thinking it.

Fantasy Advice: The Colts could potentially add Aaron Rodgers and Penn State TE- Tyler Warren this offseason. In an offense with Rodgers, Taylor, Downs, Pittman, and others, there could be some hidden fantasy value within the Colts offense.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Quarterbacks: Trevor Lawrence, Mason Rudolph

Wouldn’t it be something if Liam Coen came to Jacksonville just to trade Trevor Lawrence? In all seriousness, hopefully, the person to fix Trevor Lawrence has finally arrived in Duuuuuuuvalllll. Although there’s a new head coach in Jacksonville, I do wonder what quarterback will replace Mac Jones in Jacksonville as Lawrence’s backup. It might not be the most coveted spot in the NFL, being the backup quarterback of the Jaguars, but at least it seems like a nice spot to live down in Jacksonville.

Fantasy Advice: Let a different manager figure out whether or not if Liam Coen is the right answer in Jacksonville.

Tennessee Titans

Quarterbacks: Derek Carr, Will Levis

If you’ve been keeping up with this series, then you should’ve been expecting this one already. As I alluded to in the Saints portion of this series, Derek Carr to the Titans makes a ton of sense. Brian Callahan, now the Titans Head Coach, was Derek Carr’s QB Coach with the Raiders. Or even how the Titans have recently brought in Dave Ziegler who was General Manager for the Raiders when Carr was there. If you want to factor in how Mike Borgonzi opted to sign Alex Smith early into his time with the Chiefs as opposed to drafting a quarterback with the first overall pick, you could factor that in as well. The Titans could be looking elsewhere for an answer at quarterback… and when I mean elsewhere, I mean 2026.

Trade Package

New Orleans Saints get:

  • 2025 First-Round Pick (Via TEN) #1 overall

Tennessee Titans get:

  • 2025 First-Round Pick (Via NO) #9th overall
  • 2026 First-Round Pick (Via NO)
  • QB Derek Carr
  • OT Trevor Penning

Fantasy Advice: Draft a different quarterback in 2025.

AFC South Conclusion

Could Aaron Rodgers become the next Indianapolis Colts quarterback? Is Derek Carr destined to become a Tennessee Titan? Time will tell as the free agency and the NFL Draft commence, but as of this very moment, the odds for these scenarios all coming to fruition feel very high. Stay tuned as the next article in this series will be breaking down the third division in the AFC, the AFC West.
