QB Scramble: AFC North Edition

Fantasy Football 2025

As another NFL season concludes, the most anticipated time of the year finally approaches… The NFL Offseason.

This is one of my favorite times of the year. I enjoy predicting offseason moves and trying to anticipate big acquisitions before they happen.  I’ve done extensive research on how each QB opening could potentially be filled this offseason. I feel ready for the NFL offseason, and the Super Bowl hasn’t even kicked off yet.

In my attempts to fill in the blanks through extensive research, there is always a chance that some of that research could be making something out of nothing. Please keep in mind that this is all speculative writing that hasn’t been provided insider information; therefore, you should take this input “with a grain of salt.”

I still hope you all enjoy this series, nonetheless, as I predict the quarterback rooms for each NFL franchise in 2025. Today’s article focuses on the first division of the AFC, the North.

2025 AFC North QB Room Predictions

Baltimore Ravens

Quarterbacks: Lamar Jackson, Marcus Mariota

Big truss, whoop whoop. I think I could spend this whole portion of the article hyping up Lamar Jackson, and it would feel completely validated, but I won’t. There’s no reason to believe that the Ravens are looking at any other options at quarterback other than at the backup position. There are plenty of years left of “Action Jackson” remaining in Baltimore, so maybe I am gonna leave this portion of the article as a Lamar Jackson hype column. Once again… Big truss, whoop whoop.

Fantasy Advice: Hold Lamar Jackson unless you can get a younger asset, such as Bo Nix, with additional draft picks.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Quarterbacks: Matthew Stafford, Quinn Ewers (rookie)

Arguably, the biggest acquisition in the AFC North this offseason would be Matthew Stafford becoming a Pittsburgh Steeler. After a lot of contemplation about how the Steelers would address the quarterback position in 2025, I slowly came to the realization that Stafford could be suiting up in the black and gold. As of recently, Art Rooney has come out proclaiming that he would prefer the team to retain either Justin Fields or Russell Wilson. As the late but great John Madden would say, “If you have two quarterbacks, you have none.”

If the Steelers front office is in a toss-up between Fields and Wilson, I think they turn to a different option in 2025. Although Stafford doesn’t fit Arthur Smith’s offense as well as Kyler Murray potentially could, Stafford’s veteran experience is a clear upgrade at the position. Not to mention, Stafford’s playoff experience will be a great tool to have for Tomlin in his attempts to break his current playoff losing streak.

Fantasy Advice: Don’t split those Stafford/Kupp stacks quite yet.

Cincinnati Bengals

Quarterbacks: Joe Burrow, Jake Browning

“Some things never change, like how I’m holding on tight to you” – Frozen II

Given the fact that the Bengals are tight on funds after giving Joe Burrow the contract extension that he deserved, there’s a zero percent chance that there’s a change at the quarterback position in Cincinnati. Although Burrow has dealt with multiple injuries early in his career, I don’t see any reason to upgrade the backup position. The Bengals will be pinching pennies as they are trying to retain the playmakers that they have; none of it should go towards upgrading the backup QB position, even if it could be upgraded.

Although there’s no reason to believe that the Bengals are looking at future quarterback options, I feel it’s appropriate to ask this next question. If the Bengals continue to lose elite playmakers by not having the means to pay them, could we see Burrow’s name be added to the trade block in the next few seasons? Maybe I’m just getting too many flashbacks of Carson Palmer again; who knows?

Fantasy Advice: Joe Burrow is my early 2025 MVP Candidate. I advise drafting Burrow in all ReDraft formats

Cleveland Browns

Quarterbacks: Kirk Cousins, Jalen Milroe (rookie)

If you have been following my recent work, I wrote previously about the top destinations for Kirk Cousins in 2025. In that article, even though it’s not the most exciting landing spot, I wrote that Cleveland was the best landing spot for Cousins. If you want to get a full breakdown of that suggestion, I would advise checking out that article on Club Fantasy.

To give a shortened take on the move, a reunion for Kirk Cousins and Kevin Stefanski would be a great move for Cousins at the tail end of his career. Not to mention that Cousins would be a great mentor to whoever the Browns draft in 2025.

If Cousins receives a veteran minimum contract similar to Russell Wilson’s last offseason, the chances that Cousins will play for Cleveland in 2025 are very high.

Fantasy Advice: Kirk Cousins in Stefanski’s system could be a great buy as your team’s QB3

AFC North Conclusion

Is Matthew Stafford on his way to Pittsburgh in 2025? Could Kirk Cousins be re-joining Kevin Stefanski in Cleveland? Could the Browns even be looking at Jalen Milroe as a late-round dart throw? Time will tell as the free agency and the NFL Draft commence, but as of this very moment, the odds for these scenarios all coming to fruition feel very high.

Stay tuned as the next article in this series will be breaking down the second division in the AFC, the AFC South.
