As another NFL season concludes, the most anticipated time of the year finally approaches: The NFL Offseason.
While 14 fanbases were able to enjoy their team making the postseason this year, the remaining 18 were on the outside looking in. With many fans watching the playoffs full of jealousy and envy, lots of time has already been spent dreaming of what the next step could be to change that outcome in 2025.
This is one of my favorite times of the year as well. I enjoy predicting offseason moves and trying to anticipate big acquisitions before they happen. I’ve done extensive research on how each QB opening could potentially be filled this offseason. I feel ready for the NFL offseason, and the Super Bowl hasn’t even kicked off yet.
In my attempts to fill in the blanks through extensive research, there is always a chance that some of that research could be making something out of nothing. Please keep in mind that this is all speculative writing that hasn’t been provided insider information; therefore, you should take this input “with a grain of salt.”
I still hope you all enjoy this series nonetheless, as I predict the quarterback rooms for each NFL franchise in 2025. Today’s article focuses on the NFC North.

2025 NFC North QB Room Predictions
Detroit Lions
Projected Quarterbacks: Jared Goff, Hendon Hooker
An abundance of the Lions coaching staff received lots of new and exciting opportunities elsewhere. Detroit’s current quarterback room won’t be as lucky as some of their former coaches.
After the contract extension that Goff previously received, it would be hard to find a team willing to make a trade for Goff’s contract at this moment while also giving up trade compensation in the deal. It’s not like any upgrade would be needed at the position currently. Goff is playing some of the best football of his career. Hendon Hooker could be a name to keep an eye on if a QB-needy team doesn’t get the prospect they were hoping for in the draft.
Minnesota Vikings
Projected Quarterbacks: J.J. McCarthy, Daniel Jones
The Vikings are a team that I spent lots of hours on this offseason. A good portion was wondering about what free-agent acquisitions they can make. For the longest time I was locked into the idea that Matthew Stafford was going to rejoin Kevin O’Connell, as well as former teammate TJ Hockenson, in an attempt to chase a ring with Minnesota. As of recently, I had to change my opinion due to the limited draft capital that the Vikings would have to trade for Stafford. Plus, they would struggle with the price of his next contract post-playoff run.
The upgrade to Stafford wasn’t meant to be a knock on McCarthy’s potential even in the slightest. I viewed the potential move as a strong indication that the Vikings could be all in on the current roster while also factoring in Minnesota’s hope to finally lift a Lombardi Trophy as a franchise. Barring any setback from injury, I feel just as confident about McCarthy going into 2025 as I did last year.
Green Bay Packers
Projected Quarterbacks: Jordan Love, Malik Willis
I’m not projecting much change on the Packers quarterback depth chart. There is room for improvement at QB3 that could be addressed by a late-round draft pick. Willis has shown that he can be a viable backup in LaFleur’s system. There is a very strong likelihood that he could be the backup for the foreseeable future. It seems like the QB2 position is locked up in 2025. Though, the Packers could always add a QB prospect like Taylor Elgersma to compete with Willis and/or join the Packers’ practice squad.
Chicago Bears
Projected Quarterbacks: Caleb Williams, Trey Lance
“Make way, here he comes. Ring bells, bang a drum. Ah, you’re gonna love this guy!”
Ben Johnson has arrived in Chicago, folks. Before he could even put pen to paper, solidifying his contract, Caleb Williams’ ADP had already jumped up into the Top 5 for Dynasty Fantasy Football Leagues. There’s no questioning who will be the starting quarterback for Chicago next season. However, there are some questions as to who could be the backup.
Trey Lance was one of the hardest free agent QBs to decipher where he could sign this offseason. Maybe he does what Sam Darnold and so many others did previously: becoming a journeyman until the right opportunity presents itself. Could Lance sit behind Caleb Williams in 2025, helping mentor a fellow top draft pick?
NFC North Conclusion
The quarterback acquisitions in this division could feel somewhat lackluster this offseason. What more is to be expected when each franchise has a young, talented quarterback at the helm? Time will tell as the free agency and the NFL Draft commence, but as of this very moment, the odds for these scenarios all coming to fruition feel very high.
Stay tuned as the next article in this series will be breaking down the second division in the NFC, the NFC South.
