Recap of DFS Academy for Week 7

Top of the Class

Players that are priced $8,000 or more who we are targeting in Cash Games (Austin) and Tournaments (Kelly)

  • Austin
    • Cooper Kupp (DraftKings: $9,500 / FanDuel: $9,700)
      • Pittsburgh Steelers give up the fourth most points to receivers
      • No Kyren Williams, no Ronnie Rivers. Time for the Rams to throw the ball 50 times
  • Kelly
    • Patrick Mahomes ($8.3K DraftKings / $9.2K FanDuel)
      • Listed with the highest projected points for the week at 23 FPPG. Rostership is looking pretty decent on DraftKings in particular at around 7%. Last week was his 43rd career game with 300 yards or more, the most in NFL history since 2017.

Band Nerds 

Mid-tier players priced between $6,000 and $8,000 who we are targeting in Cash Games (Austin) and Tournaments (Kelly)

  • Austin
    • Geno Smith (DraftKings: $6,000 / FanDuel: $7,000)
      • Arizona is averaging 21.52 DraftKings points to quarterbacks
      • Saving salary at quarterback to pay up for Cooper Kupp
      • Prefer on FanDuel
    • Aaron Jones (DraftKings: $6,800 / FanDuel: $7,700)
      • Denver Broncos allowing most points to running backs
      • Low spread, should be a back and forth game, providing pass game opportunities
  • Kelly
    • Geno Smith ($6.0K DraftKings / $7.0K FanDuel)
      • Mid-range rostership with 11% of rosters on DraftKings and 9% of rosters on FanDuel. He’s projected to bring us 18 FPPG on both platforms. He’s also aiming for a 9th game in a row at home where he’s thrown a touchdown pass.
    • Kenneth Walker III ($7.0K DraftKings / $8.8K FanDuel)
      • Stack it! This could be Kenneth Walker’s 5th game in a row with a rushing touchdown. Fewer managers are picking up Walker on Fanduel (15.8 FPPG), likely due to the pricey salary. This stack is quite manageable on DraftKings (16.8 FPPG), but keep in mind that he’ll be on many DFS Week 7 rosters there.

Bookworms 

Value plays priced between $4,000 and $6,000 we are targeting in Cash Games (Austin) and Tournaments (Kelly)

  • Austin
    • D’Onta Foreman (DraftKings: $4,800 / FanDuel: $6,300)
      • Roschon Johnson is out
      • LV fourth worst against RBs
      • 15 to 20 touches will provide plenty of opportunities. Plus a touchdown will pay off his salary easily
    • Drake London (DraftKings: $5,100 / FanDuel: $6,900)
      • TB not great against receivers
      • London has an incredible target share
    • Jordan Love (DraftKings: $5,800 / FanDuel: $7,800)
      • Avoiding on FanDuel
      • Lowest salary QB I feel comfortable with this week
      • Green Bay should be at an advantage coming off the bye week
  • Kelly
    • Mark Andrews ($5.7K DraftKings / $6.9K FanDuel)
      • Mark Andrews is facing a Lions defense that ranks No. 26 in the league in allowing points to tight ends. He’s projected for 13.2 FPPG on DraftKings and 11.2 FPPG on FanDuel. This could be his 3rd straight game with 65 or more yards. This feels like a great prop bet…
    • Javonte Williams ($5.4K DraftKings / $6.0K FanDuel)
      • He’s had 40 or more rushing yards in four of his five games this season. In this week’s matchup against the Packers, he’s projected for 10.9 FPPG on DraftKings with just 3% projected rostership. On Fanduel, he’s projected for 9.6 FPPG and just 6% rostership. The Packers rank No. 27 in defending the run.

C’s get Degrees 

Punt players of the week (less than $4,000) in Cash Games (Austin) and Tournaments (Kelly)

  • Austin
    • Luke Musgrave (DraftKings: $3,300 / FanDuel: $5,000)
      • I need to save money to pay up for Cooper Kupp
      • Denver Broncos are allowing over 17 points per game to tight ends
    • Cade Otton (DraftKings: $2,900 / FanDuel: $4,700)
      • Still betting against the Falcons linebackers
      • In case you want to save more money at tight end, Cade Otton has a good chance of getting into the endzone.
  • Kelly
    • Curtis Samuel ($4.0K DraftKings / $6.4K FanDuel)
      • Did you know that this week could be the 4th week in a row that Curtis Samuel scores a touchdown? Projected for 10.1 on DraftKings and 8.4 on Fanduel. Rostership is midrange on DraftKings, at 10% due to the extremely low salary and it’s projected for just 3% over on FanDuel.
    • Luke Musgrave ($3.3K DraftKings / $5.0K FanDuel)
      •  At such a low salary range, DFS managers will be able to spend up at other positions by rostering Musgrave. He’s projected for 8-ish FPPG. Keep in mind that he’ll be on more than 20% of DFS rosters this week.
