It was another tough week in fantasy football regarding injuries. And with four teams now on bye, waivers are both very thin and very necessary. We are now five weeks in, and your playoff picture is getting clearer each week. Chances are, you need a win in Week 6. Let’s get to the waivers.
Every week, we’ll highlight our Top 5 fantasy football waiver wire pickups to help you stay ahead of the competition and keep your roster strong. When bye weeks start, I also like to add this Pro Tip: WATCH THE DROP LIST! With so many players on bye, managers may need to cut someone they normally would not.
Week 6 byes: Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, Cincinnati Bengals, and Miami Dolphins.
A few quick notes: I use ESPN as my baseline, so players must be available in at least 50% of ESPN leagues to make the list. I’m also a proponent of streaming QB, TE, K, and DEF, so you’ll rarely see those positions here; they’re easy to snag for free after waivers. Save your FAAB! Now, let’s hit the Top 5.
Week 6 Fantasy Football Waivers

Woody Marks (52% Available on ESPN, 43% on Sleeper)
Marks has been on this list for a few weeks now, so I hope you listened. With David Montgomery now set to miss multiple weeks with a groin injury, Marks will have the Houston backfield to himself. He was the RB29 as the lead back in this offense last season, and is the RB31 this year, so temper your expectations, but there is RB2 upside here.
FAAB Suggestion: 35%. Likelihood you’ll still be starting him in a month: 45%.

Malik Washington (60% Available on ESPN, 38% on Sleeper)
Yes, Miami is on bye in Week 6, but we cannot keep ignoring Washington’s volume. Through five games, he is on pace for 120 targets and is the WR33 in fantasy. If you play in any sort of PPR league, he should not be on waivers. You can probably low-bid on him this week with the Dolphins off, but you also have to waste a bench spot, so I get it if you want to wait a week.
FAAB Suggestion: 10%. Likelihood you’ll still be starting him in a month: 50%.
Kendrick Bourne (98% Available on ESPN, 87% on Sleeper)
With Marvin Harrison Jr. now in Houston, Bourne takes over as the WR2 in Arizona. The Cardinals are averaging 40 pass attempts a game, so there is plenty of work to go around. In his first game without Harrison, Bourne was targeted eight times and finished as the WR26. He could be a steal on waivers.
FAAB Suggestion: 10%. Likelihood you’ll still be starting him in a month: 35%.
Jordan Love (52% Available on ESPN, 37% on Sleeper)
Love is a top-10 QB in fantasy and has two of the best receivers in fantasy to throw to; why is he on waivers? I feel like managers are holding a grudge for past mediocrity. The long and short is that the Packers still cannot run the ball, and Love is playing quite well. He should be rostered in all leagues.
FAAB Suggestion: 10%. Likelihood you’ll still be starting him in a month: 75%.
Tre Tucker (68% Available on ESPN, 54% on Sleeper)
I will keep beating this drum as long as I have to: Tre Tucker is a decent fantasy WR3. Yes, Brock Bowers is the team’s true WR1, but Tucker is good for four catches and 40 yards every week, plus he has the speed to break a long TD. He is low-risk and pretty decent reward. If your league starts 36 WRs every week, Tucker should be rostered.
FAAB Suggestion: 10%. Likelihood you’ll still be starting him in a month: 45%.
