Week 13 Fantasy Football Waivers: Don’t Sleep on Kyle Monangai!

Fantasy Football Waivers

With just a few weeks left in the regular season, your sole focus should be the fantasy playoffs. Late-season waivers can get interesting. A few players are emerging as viable fantasy plays while they audition for next season. My article will be comprised of those types of players, but only add them if you might play them. When it comes to waiver adds this late in the year, don’t waste roster spots on the flavor of the week if they will never see your starting lineup.

Instead, do one of two things: 1. Handcuff your starting RBs. If you have Christian McCaffrey and Bijan Robinson, you need to have Brian Robinson and Tyler Allgeier. Your focus here is making sure you always have those team’s starting RB. 2. If you have a spot, start streaming your DEF now. Look for the teams that have the best Week 14 matchups, then Week 15, and so on. Roster them now, so you have the best starter that week.

With all that out of the way, here are my top adds as we head into Week 13!

A few quick notes: I use ESPN as my baseline, so players must be available in at least 50% of ESPN leagues to be included on the list. I’m also a proponent of streaming QB, TE, K, and DEF, so you’ll rarely see those positions on my list; there are usually quality players readily available for free after the waiver period. Save your FAAB! Now, let’s hit the Top 5.

Bye Week Notes: There are NO BYE WEEKS in Week 13, but we aren’t out of the woods yet. To wrap up the season, the Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, New York Giants, and San Francisco 49ers all get Week 14 off. Watch your league’s drops this week for players from these teams who were cut out of desperation.

Week 13 Fantasy Football Waivers

Kyle Monangai (45% Available on ESPN, 38% on Sleeper)

Yes, Monangai is rostered in more than 50% of leagues, but barely, and that is a mistake. Check your waivers now, as he may be the Bears’ starting RB to end the season. D’Andre Swift took a huge step back this week, and Monangai has TDs in each of the last three games. The team clearly likes this rookie, and he should not be available in 45% of leagues, plain and simple.

Devin Neal (98% Available on ESPN, 90% on Sleeper)

With Alvin Kamara picking up an injury and the Saints’ season on the rocks, why not see what you have in Devin Neal? The rookie RB has done next to NOTHING this season, but caught five balls in Week 12, and should see more work as the year winds down. He could be an interesting Flex option in PPR leagues and might save some teams set to lose an RB in Week 14 with four teams on bye.

John Metchie (99% Available on ESPN, 92% on Sleeper)

We here at Club Fantasy are huge fans of John Metchie and love what we are seeing in NY. Metchie beat cancer, but his time in the NFL has been disappointing. With the Jets, it appears he is getting a chance to show his talent, and he is seizing the opportunity with Garrett Wilson out. Metchie has scored in each of the last two games and should lead this receiving corps to end the season.

Chimere Dike (88% Available on ESPN, 77% on Sleeper)

With Calvin Ridley now out for the season, the role is Dike’s, and he is delivering. Since Week 7, he is the WR26 in fantasy, and that is with a bye week. There is one caveat: if your league does not award points for Kick and Punt Return TDs, he loses a bit of value. He has scored two Special Teams TDs this season, helping his ranking along the way. Dike is still performing as a WR, catching five balls for 44 yards and a TD in Week 12, and could be a Flex option for WR-needy teams down the stretch.

Jayden Higgins (76% Available on ESPN, 77% on Sleeper)

It’s been up-and-down, but Higgins is a top-30 WR in fantasy since Week 8. In those five games, he has 32 targets, and has been at seven or more in four of those games. He is playing well opposite Nico Collins, and the Texans should keep him on the field as the season winds down. He is a rookie, and they need to know what they have. Of all my picks, he is probably the riskiest. He is not his team’s WR1, and it’s 50/50 whether he’ll score 5 or 15 points, but that still keeps him in the Flex discussion.
