Week 10 Fantasy Football Waivers: Why Not Give Alec Pierce a Chance?

Fantasy Football Waivers

How do I put this delicately? The waiver wire for Week 10 is rough (IT SUCKS!) As the fantasy regular season winds down, some managers get less active, which means less churn and subpar waivers. There may be some gems in your league, but given my article parameters (players must be 50% available on ESPN), there is little to get excited about. Hopefully you are happy with your team right now, because it ain’t getting much better this week.

A few quick notes: I use ESPN as my baseline, so players must be available in at least 50% of ESPN leagues to be included on the list. I’m also a proponent of streaming QB, TE, K, and DEF, so you’ll rarely see those positions on my list; there are usually quality players readily available for free after the waiver period. Save your FAAB! Now, let’s hit the Top 5.

Bye Week Notes: There are four teams on bye in Week 10: the Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, and Tennessee Titans. Watch your league’s drops this week for players from these teams who were cut out of desperation.

BONUS: Parker Washington (95% Available on ESPN, 73% on Sleeper)

Who puts a bonus first? Why is Parker Washington not on the graphic? Because I am an idiot. Some way, somehow, I missed Washington when putting this list together. In PPR leagues, he is a great add and should be your top priority. Travis Hunter will miss the next three games, and Brian Thomas is continually dealing with injuries. After Week 9, it’s not out of the question that Washington is the WR1 in Jacksonville. He was the WR17 last week and has seen 19 targets in his last two games. Go get Parker Washington!

Alec Pierce (88% Available on ESPN, 72% on Sleeper)

Pierce is a big-play guy, so there is an inherent boom-or-bust to his game. However, over the last three weeks, he has seen 28 targets and is the WR17 in fantasy. The Colts have ATL in Week 10 and a Week 11 bye, so he could easily come down to Earth, but it only takes him one play to be a relevant Flex play. If you can be patient, he has a nice schedule coming out of his bye heading into the fantasy playoffs.

Tory Horton (93% Available on ESPN, 85% on Sleeper)

We are betting that Week 9 was a true breakout for Horton. Cooper Kupp missed the game, and Horton took advantage. Sam Darnold targeted Horton four times, and the rookie caught all four and found the endzone twice. That puts Horton at five TDs on the season. While he was a top-10 WR for the week, Horton isn’t even in the Top 50 on the season, so this is definitely a gamble.

Tyjae Spears (56% Available on ESPN, 40% on Sleeper)

As expected, Spears took a step back from his solid Week 8 game, but it wasn’t that bad. He still carried the ball seven times and caught three balls again. He was the RB25 on the week, making him more of a Flex option than your RB2, but his upside is capped as long as he is splitting the backfield with Tony Pollard.

Bhayshul Tuten (80% Available on ESPN, 74% on Sleeper)

After a quick start to the season, Tuten went radio silent for six weeks. He finally found the endzone again this week, his first TD since Week 3. The hope here is that coming out of the team’s bye, Tuten will have a more defined role. He is still operating far behind Travis Etienne, but if he continues to find the endzone, he’ll have some Flex appeal. At the very least, all Etienne managers should roster him as insurance.

Isaiah Davis (91% Available on ESPN, 66% on Sleeper)

The Jets were on bye in Week 9, so some may have forgotten how good Davis looked in Week 8. He touched the ball 12 times for 109 yards against the Bengals in Week 8, finishing as the RB10. He won’t get to face Cincinnati every week, but as long as Braelon Allen is on IR, Davis should have a decent role complementing Breece Hall. And, there is still the possibility that Hall gets traded, which would make Davis a hot commodity. If you have room, add him now and see what happens.
