Week 14 Waiver Wire Additions: A New Running Back in San Francisco

Fantasy Football Waivers

Just when we thought we were getting Christian McCaffrey back…NOPE! It’s a good thing you stashed Jordan Mason, though…NOPE! And Taysom Hill ain’t gonna save your team either! We just can’t have nice things. Fantasy football is hard enough as is, but the injuries this season have been maddening. Thankfully, something like 90% of the teams that drafted McCaffrey aren’t even making the fantasy playoffs, so no harm, no foul, really. For those of you in the running, there are some solid options on the Week 14 waiver wire. Here are my favorite pickups.

Pro TipFor the last time this season, watch the bye week teams. There were no byes in Week 13, but six teams, Denver, Indianapolis, New England, Washington, Baltimore, and Houston are all off in Week 14. Keep an eye on the cuts tomorrow to see if someone drops someone they shouldn’t.

Week 14 Waiver Wire Additions

Week 14 Waiver Wire options

Isaac Guerendo, RB, San Francisco 49ers

Available in 94% of Yahoo leagues, 98% of ESPN leagues, and 95% of Sleeper leagues

While Guerendo has seen limited snaps, just 42 carries in 12 games, he has looked good when he’s played. He’s averaging almost six yards per carry and found the endzone twice this year. He’s also shown big-play ability by taking a carry 76 yards against SEA in Week 6. Even more importantly, Guerendo is now the lead back in San Francisco. Once they get their o-line healthy, that role is worth its weight in gold. At this point in the season, there is no reason to save FAAB or priority. Go all in on the newest starting running back in the NFL.

FAAB Bid: 100%

Ray Davis, RB, Buffalo Bills

Available in 83% of Yahoo leagues, 88% of ESPN leagues, and 89% of Sleeper leagues

Davis is still working behind James Cook but showed he also has standalone value on Sunday night. Against San Francisco, Davis registered 63 yards on 11 carries and scored his fourth touchdown of the season. There is always some debate in the late weeks on whether you should use your bench on handcuffs or high-upside players…Davis is both. If Cook goes down, Davis could be a weekly top-15 running back. There is literally no reason that he shouldn’t at least be rostered by every Cook manager. With just one regular season game left in fantasy, every playoff team could use running back insurance, and Davis is an excellent fit.

FAAB Bid: 75%

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, WR, Tennessee Titans

Available in 82% of Yahoo leagues, 80% of ESPN leagues, and 83% of Sleeper leagues

Not sure how much I need to write here. Do you like touchdowns? NWI has eight in the last eight games. In that span, he is the WR13 in fantasy. His role is clear. The volume is not great, but the results are fantastic. Throw him in your flex until the wheels fall off.

FAAB Bid: 75-100%

Adam Thielen, WR, Carolina Panthers

Available in 68% of Yahoo leagues, 73% of ESPN leagues, and 50% of Sleeper leagues

Welcome back, old man! As the veteran on a team looking to rebuild, I wasn’t sure what role Thielen would play for these Panthers. Turns out it’s the same role he played last year. The Panthers are playing well and almost beat Tampa Bay this week. Thielen registered 99 yards and a TD in his second game off the IR. While the Week 14 tilt with Philly will be more challenging, Carolina should be throwing plenty. After that, the schedule opens up nicely. Thielen could be decent WR depth or even a second flex for a playoff roster.

FAAB Bid: 25-50%

Parker Washington, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars

Available in 99% of Yahoo leagues, 99% of ESPN leagues, and 96% of Sleeper leagues

It has been a rough season for Jacksonville, and that was punctuated on Sunday when a dirty hit from Houston rocked Trevor Lawrence, likely ending his season. On top of that injury, Evan Engram was also kicked from the game for defending Lawrence. In the midst of that chaos, Parker Washington had a pretty solid outing. Washington was targeted 12 times, catching six balls for 103 yards and a TD. As a consolation to fantasy managers, a lot of that work and the TD came from Mac Jones. Now, the only thing harder than depending on a receiver you’ve never heard of is depending on Mac Jones in the fantasy playoffs. However, if your team is desperate after some of the recent injuries, Washington could be a decent flex play with a beatable playoff schedule.

FAAB Bid: 15-25%

**Bonus Pick**

Sincere McCormick, RB, Las Vegas Raiders

Available in 99.9% of Yahoo leagues, 99.9% of ESPN leagues, and 99.9% of Sleeper leagues

McCormick will be higher on most lists this week, but there is a major issue. As of Monday, he’s not even on the Raiders active roster. After Friday’s game, he reverted back to the practice squad on Saturday. Against Kansas City on Friday, McCormick was the primary backup to Ameer Abdullah while Zamir White and Alexander Mattison were out. In that backup role, he outperformed almost every Raiders running back performance this season, taking 12 carries for 64 yards and adding two receptions. Those 64 yards were the second-most by a Vegas RB this year and the highest yards per carry for a back with more than ten carries. He showed a pop in his game the Raiders are sorely lacking in 2024. If he wins a role, he could be an interesting flex option, especially in Week 14 with all those teams on bye. But if White and Mattison return to their spots on the depth chart, McCormick will be a waste of FAAB.

FAAB Bid: 15-25%
