Week 13 Waiver Wire Additions: A Plethora of Wide Receivers

Fantasy Football Waivers

Did you survive the Week 12 Bye-Pocalypse? Chances are you’re getting a bunch of starters back this week and aren’t even concerned with waivers. Compared to the lineup you had to start last week, it will feel like you have a whole new team in Week 13. But you also have a bunch of new guys you can cut now if they let you down last week. So, here are my favorite options from the Week 13 waiver wire for those looking to cut some dead weight.

Pro Tip: Watch the bye week teams. Last week, six teams were on bye: the New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons, Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals, Jacksonville Jaguars, and New Orleans Saints. Check waivers for players from those teams that probably should not have been cut last week.

Week 13 Waiver Wire options

Week 13 Waiver Wire Additions

Roschon Johnson, RB, Chicago Bears

Available in 72% of Yahoo leagues, 82% of ESPN leagues, and 63% of Sleeper leagues

The waiver pool is quite shallow at this point of the season. Looking for my Top 5, Johnson is the only non-receiver I think is worth much of a bid. Johnson only saw three touches in Week 12, but he did score a TD. Back in Week 11, he touched the ball 11 times. His production has been inconsistent, as he is firmly behind D’Andre Swift, but he has scored six TDs this season. The Bears are giving him valuable touches. Since Week 3, he is a top-40 running back in fantasy and has three performances of over 10 fantasy points. As we enter the fantasy playoffs, Johnson deserves a spot on your bench, especially if you already have Swift starting for your team.

FAAB Bid: 25-35%

Devaughn Vele, WR, Denver Broncos

Available in 95% of Yahoo leagues, 98% of ESPN leagues, and 87% of Sleeper leagues

Vele has established himself as the Bronco’s WR2 behind Courtland Sutton. With the way Bo Nix is playing, that role is getting more valuable by the week. After his nine-target performance in Week 12, Vele has seen three or more targets in every game he’s played in 2024. He’s also scored 10+ fantasy points in each of his last three games. Over that span, Vele is a top-25 receiver in fantasy. After their Week 14 bye, the Broncos have a great fantasy schedule for QBs and WRs, and I could see Vele as the Flex play on your playoff roster.

FAAB Bid: 25-35%

Demario Douglas, WR, New England Patriots

Available in 69% of Yahoo leagues, 70% of ESPN leagues, and 50% of Sleeper leagues

Demario Douglas is low-risk, low-reward. It’s not the most appealing title in fantasy, but if your roster is stacked and you need a safe Flex play that won’t drop a zero, Douglas is your man. Going back to Week 3, Douglas has seen nine targets in four different games and is averaging six targets per game in that span. Unfortunately, his highest fantasy output is one game of 20+ fantasy points against two games with just three points. All of that volume figures out to be about nine fantasy points per game, but Drake Maye is getting better as a QB, and Douglas is the clear WR1. You’re not starting him unless you have to, and he is also on bye in Week 14, but if you’re risk-averse, Douglas is your guy.

FAAB Bid: 10-20%

Xavier Legette, WR, Carolina Panthers

Available in 73% of Yahoo leagues, 63% of ESPN leagues, and 53% of Sleeper leagues

While Legette hasn’t set the world on fire since the team traded away Diontae Johnson, he’s been consistently decent. He’s scored at least seven fantasy points in each of the last four games, registering at least three catches and 30 yards in all four weeks. That’s a base of six fantasy points, and if he scores a TD, he’s a decent Flex play. He found the endzone back in Weeks 8 and 9, but the last two games have been fruitless. Since Week 8, he is the WR44 in fantasy. You’re not itching to start him, but he deserves a roster spot in case of a late-season breakout. With the improved play of Bryce Young and a favorable schedule for WRs, including two matchups with Tampa Bay, Legette could surprise in the last five games.

FAAB Bid: 10-20%

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, WR, New Orleans Saints

Available in 75% of Yahoo leagues, 84% of ESPN leagues, and 64% of Sleeper leagues

For the most part, we here at Club Fantasy scoff at the idea of MVS being an every-week contributor. However, the best ability is availability, and the unity is opportunity (that last part might not actually be a saying). Basically, what I’m trying to say is that Valdes-Scantling is the only healthy receiver in New Orleans, and we can’t ignore the last two weeks. In the two games before their Week 12 bye, MVS was targeted seven times and caught five balls, three of which were TDs. If this seems unsustainable, it is. But he also has no competition at wide receiver. He’s a boom-or-bust flyer for your Flex, and his history tells us that the bust is coming soon. At the very least, he deserves a spot at the end of your bench in case you get desperate.

FAAB Bid: 10-20%

**Bonus Pick**

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine

Available in 88% of Yahoo leagues, 92% of ESPN leagues, and 79% of Sleeper leagues

Do you like touchdowns? In just the last seven games, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine has scored six, all in six different games. It’s probably time to take this scoring prowess seriously. Six games is not a fluke. During this streak, he is the WR17 in fantasy on 24 targets. The volume isn’t great, but the results are fantastic. We’re talking WR2 numbers, not just a Flex play. In all honesty, I chose the order of this list before looking at the numbers, and NWI should probably be your top claim this week. But the graphic was already created, and I don’t want to ruin the aesthetic. He’s the most consistent of the bunch, and the Titans don’t have a terrible schedule down the stretch.

FAAB Bid: 40-50%
