Usually, during the bye weeks, I fit a Pro Tip into my article about checking for players from those teams that should not normally be available. Sometimes, fantasy managers drop good players out of desperation. On the Week 10 Waiver Wire, almost all of my favorite pickups come from those teams so…
Pro Tip: Watch the bye week teams. Last week, San Francisco and Pittsburgh were on a bye, so check waivers for players from those teams that probably should not have been cut. This week, the Green Bay Packers, Cleveland Browns, Las Vegas Raiders, and Seattle Seahawks are all off, so watch the drops this week to see if anyone good gets dropped out of desperation.
Also, a friendly reminder: this article gives you my Top 5 picks from the Week 10 waiver wire, but if you need more help, check out our YouTube channel every Tuesday morning to catch WireTapped. We break down all of the popular waivers and answer your questions live. In the meantime, here are my favorite picks for Week 10.
Week 10 Waiver Wire Additions
Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings, WR, San Francisco 49ers
Available in 50-70% of Yahoo leagues, 50-80% of ESPN leagues, and 40-50% of Sleeper leagues
The 49ers bye could not have come at a better time. They recently lost Brandon Aiyuk for the season, and Deebo Samuel was dealing with an injury and pneumonia. While Samuel should be close to 100%, they need someone to step up, and an extra week of practice is going to help that process along. Jennings is the obvious add after we saw him score three touchdowns in the Week 3 game that both Aiyuk and Samuel missed. But don’t sleep on the rookie. Pearsall is miraculously able to play after sustaining a gunshot to the f***king chest in the preseason and had a pretty damn good Week 8, catching all four of his targets for 39 yards. Deebo will be the WR1, but there might be enough work for both of these two 49ers to eat behind him. If I can only get one, it’s Jennings, but I’m not going to be upset if I have to settle for Pearsall. He got shot two months ago. Two. Months. Ago.
FAAB Bid: 100% on Jennings, 50-60% on Pearsall
Isaac Guerendo, RB, San Francisco 49ers
Available in 80% of Yahoo leagues, 90% of ESPN leagues, and 80% of Sleeper leagues
My hesitation to add Guerendo after Week 6 was that all his production basically came on one run. Without much volume, it was going to be hard for him to produce because long runs are few and far between. There was no path to volume because it didn’t appear that Jordan Mason would miss any time, and Christian McCaffrey would be back soon. Week 7 proved me right, as Guerendo registered one carry for eight yards. Things have changed, though. Now, Mason is dealing with a more serious injury, and Guerendo could be the one to split time with a recovering McCaffrey, assuming CMC is even back in Week 10. In Week 8, Guerendo took 14 carries for 85 yards and a TD, plus added three receptions. McCaffrey might kill that passing work, but if 10-15 carries are on the menu, order up!
FAAB Bid: 30-40%
Ray Davis, RB, Buffalo
Available in 80% of Yahoo leagues, 85% of ESPN leagues, and 75% of Sleeper leagues
Much like Guerendo, a lot of Davis’ production comes off big plays, and those are hard to depend on. However, he has scored 10+ fantasy points in three of his last four games, and that production cannot be left on waivers. Since James Cook was diagnosed with turf toe in Week 6, this has been more of a split backfield, with Davis ranking as the RB24 in fantasy and Cook as the RB25. Nobody loves a split backfield, but if both are producing, it’s more tolerable. Davis is a flex play now with a high RB2 upside if Cook were to miss time.
FAAB Bid: 30-40%
Xavier Legette, WR, Carolina Panthers
Available in 70% of Yahoo leagues, 65% of ESPN leagues, and 50% of Sleeper leagues
I wasn’t sure what to make of the Panthers with Diontae Johnson gone and Bryce Young back at QB. It turns out that they might be the third-best team in the NFC South, which is an improvement from a week ago. Legette has come on as of late, scoring TDs in each of his last two games, three of his last four, and four of his last six. Since Week 4, he is actually the WR26 in fantasy and that is too good of a ranking over too large of a span to be ignored. Plus, have you heard this kid talk? His personality is worth an add alone. He is worth a roster spot through his Week 11 bye and should be a flex option for the fantasy playoffs.
FAAB Bid: 25-30%
Demarcus Robinson, WR, LA Rams
Available in 85% of Yahoo leagues, 85% of ESPN leagues, and 80% of Sleeper leagues
Apparently, all Robinson needed was someone to help him do the heavy lifting. While Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua were out, Robinson was a middling WR4 in fantasy. They came back two weeks ago, and Robinson has scored three touchdowns in two games. He has actually recorded all five of his TDs in his last four games, and he is the WR19 in fantasy since Week 5, and that includes a Week 6 bye. The Rams’ offense seems rejuvenated and should be more fantasy-friendly to end the season. If you don’t have Kupp or Nacua, Robinson is a good consolation prize.
FAAB Bid: 25-30%
**Bonus Pick**
Cedric Tillman, WR, Cleveland Browns
Available in 40% of Yahoo leagues, 55% of ESPN leagues, and 30% of Sleeper leagues
If the Browns weren’t on bye in Week 10, Tillman would be the top waiver pickup for the second week in a row. Over the last 3 games, he has 33 targets, 21 catches, 255 yards, and three touchdowns. He is the WR1 in fantasy over that span. The best WR in fantasy over the last three weeks is on waivers in 50% of ESPN leagues. Fix this.
FAAB Bid: 50-100%
