Before we get in our Week 8 picks, let me just say Week 7 was super weird in the NFL DFS. I cannot recall a week where the best plays failed at as high of a rate as last week. The cash line was the lowest I can recall seeing it, and yet cashing was actually very challenging. Last week, you ended up needing around 105 points to cash on DraftKings. Most weeks that feels easy. But with players like Jayden Daniels exiting early, everything was thrown into chaos.
So it goes. It is a good reminder of why we take a season-long mindset with DFS Cash. Yes, it is a week-to-week game, but our goal with Cash is to be profitable across the course of a season. I feel good about the process that went into last week; it just ended up not working out because of the randomness of fantasy football.
With that, it’s on to our Week 8 NFL DFS Cash picks.
Cash is in session.

Teacher’s Pet
Javonte Williams (DraftKings: $6,000 / FanDuel: $6,000)
The Javonte Williams truthers have finally been vindicated for at least one game. There’s a good chance they will be vindicated for another week. The Broncos take on the Carolina Panthers this week, who have been an incredible matchup for running backs all season. In fact, since Week 4, they have averaged 37 DraftKings points per game allowed to running backs. Williams still has a handle on this role and should smash on Sunday.

Honor Roll
Joe Mixon (DraftKings: $7,700 / FanDuel: $9,000)
Speaking of smashing, Joe Mixon has been crushing it every time he is healthy. In games where he has played all four quarters, he is consistently scoring around 30 points, which is Christian McCaffrey levels of production. He is in another good spot this week as the Houston Texans are projected to score 25 points against a bottom-ten rushing defense. With continued injuries at the pass catcher position, Mixon is in line for another huge day.
Tyreek Hill (DraftKings: $7,000 / FanDuel: $7,600)
It is absolutely wild that we get Tyreek Hill at this price. He should be one of the top five priced players on the slate in a week that marks the return of Tua Tagovailoa. The Arizona Cardinals have struggled to defend the pass, but their offense has been competitive enough to push opposing teams to continue passing the ball. In a spot where Hill should be slated for double-digit quality targets, expect him to be rostered in over 50% of Cash lineups.
Jordan Love (DraftKings: $7,100 / FanDuel: $8,900)
Perhaps no one has a better matchup this week than Jordan Love. The Jacksonville Jaguars have allowed the most points to the quarterback position across the season, and it has been even worse in recent weeks. Since Week 4, they allow just over 26 DraftKings points per game to the position. Even though their defense has struggled, Vegas seems to believe this will be a close game. The Packers are only favored by four points, which bodes well for Jordan Love’s pass volume in this game. Lock him in.

Check the Chalkboard
Kareem Hunt (DraftKings: $6,300 / FanDuel: $8,100)
I am still so shocked that we are talking about Kareem Hunt in 2024. But it is so hard to argue against the ridiculous volume he has seen since joining Kansas City. He has two consecutive weeks with over 20 touches and is getting the valuable red zone touches. Even though the Raiders have been average against running backs, I will take that volume any day. Plus, Hunt remains below $7,000 on DraftKings, making him an even juicer start.

Participation Grade
Jalen McMillan (DraftKings: $3,700 / FanDuel: $4,900)
Unfortunately, we are in a position to take advantage of some wide receiver injuries this week. With Mike Evans and Chris Godwin out of the lineup Sunday, several of the Tampa Bay backup receivers are DFS viable this week. For Cash, I am interested in Jalen McMillan, who immediately saw an uptick in targets when Mike Evans exited the lineup on Monday night. He ended up with eight targets, which is plenty for a sub-$4,000 player.

Back of the Classroom Studs
Kyle Pitts (DraftKings: $4,400 / FanDuel: $5,700)
On the other side of that Tampa Bay matchup, I’m looking toward Kyle Pitts to provide some solid volume at the tight end position. Pitts has three consecutive games with at least 10 DraftKings points, and the Buccaneers have struggled against the tight end position. While it may be hard to trust Pitts given the years of consternation, his role has continued to increase as Kirk Cousins has settled into this offense. If you don’t like Pitts for a Cash lineup, he also is a great pick in tournament settings this week.
Ray-Ray McCloud (DraftKings: $4,300 / FanDuel: $5.400)
Two Falcons in my player pool, huh? Yes, that makes me nervous as well. And it was honestly totally an accident, but I need some salary relief and Tampa Bay has struggled against the pass. Despite a down week in Week 7, Ray-Ray McCloud has maintained a consistent role in Atlanta’s pass game, which should carry forward in what could turn into a back-and-forth affair given the stature of the pass defenses.
Green Bay Packers (DraftKings: $3,200 / FanDuel: $4,600)
The Jacksonville Jaguars continue to exist in mediocrity, which means they are a great team to pick on in DFS contests. The Green Bay Packers have quietly been a frisky defense, recording multiple sacks in all but two matchups and a turnover in all but one game. Against a team that is known for turnovers, that is a dream formula.
