The A List at DFS Academy | NFL DFS Week 7

NFL DFS

As we head into NFL Week 7, I want to take a moment to acknowledge my process when writing this article because it is particularly relevant to this slate. My goal for the article is to create a full DFS lineup that fits within the DraftKings salary. Because of this, I inevitably end up leaving off some players who should have incredible weeks.

For example, Jayden Daniels and Amon-Ra St. Brown are two excellent plays this week. However, this is the last time I will mention them in the article because I also love Kyren Williams, and building a DFS Cash lineup with all three of those players involved limits our options.

All that to say is that there will be some decision points this week that will impact how you build your lineup. If you pay up for Daniels, you will probably need to punt your defense and tight end off a cliff. Similarly, in order to get Amon-Ra St. Brown in your lineup, you will likely need a cheap quarterback and mid-priced running backs. If you play both of them, plus Kyren Williams, you will likely need a sub-$3,000 tight end and a couple of receivers in the $4,000 range.

I’m providing one way to build a lineup this week, but ultimately, everyone reading this article will have to make their own decisions. Now, let’s get into those Week 7 NFL DFS Cash picks.

Cash is in session.

Teacher’s Pet

Kyren Williams (DraftKings: $8,100 / FanDuel: $8,600)

Coming out of his bye week, Kyren Williams should be rejuvenated for a matchup against a struggling Las Vegas Raiders defense. Since Week 3, they have allowed the sixth-most points to the running back position. Additionally, Williams continues to carry significant volume. Through the first five weeks of the season, he only had one game with fewer than 20 touches. Even at his price point, he will be a staple of my DFS Cash lineups.

NFL DFS Week 7

Honor Roll

Kirk Cousins (DraftKings: $6,300 / FanDuel: $7,200)

It is always a scary moment talking up my Atlanta Falcons when producing content. I tend to discount them to ensure my fandom doesn’t create bias. But this matchup just seems too good to be true. Seattle has allowed an average of 21.1 points per game to quarterbacks since Week 3. Plus, the Falcons have the second-highest implied team total on the slate, only behind the Washington Commanders. My heart tells me this is a trap, but my brain says to play Kirk Cousins in Cash. If Cousins is too expensive for your liking, I also think Geno Smith is Cash-viable.

Brian Robinson (DraftKings: $6,400 / FanDuel: $8,000)

I just mentioned that the Washington Commanders have the highest implied team total on the slate. They are projected to score a whopping 30 points. That is definitely the highest implied total of any team this season. With that in mind, we can attack this game in many ways. My favorite way is to start the running backs. The Carolina Panthers have been awful against running backs, making them a prominent matchup target. The caveat about Brian Robinson is that he is entering this game as questionable as a game-time decision. If he sits, Austin Ekeler is a clear lineup-lock. Even if Robinson plays, I don’t mind starting Ekeler, who has scored double-digit fantasy points in all of his starts this season. Expect the Commanders to roll against this depleted Panthers run defense.

Wan’Dale Robinson (DraftKings: $6,100 / FanDuel: $6,600)

Even with the return of Malik Nabers, Wan’Dale Robinson remains a perennial consideration for DFS Cash contests. He has continued to bring in plenty of targets, even when Nabers has been in the lineup. He has the trust of Daniel Jones and is often prone to have manufactured touches. Now, the Eagles have been better against receivers in recent weeks, but some of that is skewed by the fact that they have faced bad offenses, such as the Cleveland Browns. If you are hurt by Amari Cooper’s performance against the Eagles, don’t take it out on Wan’Dale Robinson. Plus, Nabers’ return should further benefit Robinson in the passing game.

Check the Chalkboard

Diontae Johnson (DraftKings: $6,600 / FanDuel: $7,100)

It always grabs my attention when a player consistently brings in double-digit targets. Especially when that player remains priced below $7,000 on DraftKings. Sure, DraftKings probably did that because they don’t expect the Carolina Panthers to ever score a touchdown, but still. When Johnson has been targeted 10 or more times this season, he is averaging over 20 DraftKings points per game. The Panthers are currently 9.5-point underdogs, so they will need to pass the ball plenty to stay involved. Diontae Johnson to the moon.

Participation Grade

Colby Parkinson (DraftKings: $3,800 / FanDuel: $5,200)

We are finally starting to get some intriguing tight end punt options after a rough start to the season. Colby Parkinson has been very involved in the Rams’ passing game since Cooper Kupp and Puca Nacua went out with injuries. Even if Kupp straps up on Sunday, Parkinson should still get a healthy amount of volume this week. Or, you can punt further to Ja’Tavion Sanders, who is basically free.

NFL DFS Week 7

Back of the Classroom Studs

JuJu Smith-Schuster (DraftKings: $4,000 / FanDuel: $6,100)

Speaking of basically free, when was the last time a player who just had a 100-yard game got priced at $4,000? It’s almost like DraftKings thought Kansas City was going to cut JuJu Smith-Schuster during their bye week. Instead, he is coming off an 8-target game with no signs of slowing down. Sure, we only have a one-game sample size. But who do you think is actually going to take that volume from Smith-Schuster? Justin Watson? Take the free square and move on. Plus, starting Smith-Schuster helps you squeeze in Kyren Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba (DraftKings: $5,900 / FanDuel: $6,100)

Picking Jaxon Smith-Njigba is my effort to make sure everything in the world is balanced, given my Kirk Cousins take. If I place one bet for the Falcons and one against them, surely everything goes according to plan, right? The Falcons secondary has been somewhat misleading this season. While DraftKings has them as the 21st-ranked team against wide receivers, they have been worse in recent weeks. Since Week 3, they have allowed the fifth-most points to the position. I chalk it up to a combination of injuries and a tendency to get gashed for big plays. Meanwhile, Smith-Njigba continues to bring in a consistent amount of targets in the pass-heaviest offense in the league. Plus, he’s playing the Falcons, what could go wrong?

New York Giants (DraftKings: $2,500 / FanDuel: $3,200)

Picking my DFS Cash defense has been a journey this week. I originally leaned into the Buffalo Bills, but they are expensive on both DFS sites. I decided to look at some punt options, and the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants both stand out. As for the Giants, they have been holding teams to 20 points or fewer on a regular basis and have recorded a sack in every game so far. Essentially, they provide a pathway to punt without taking negative points at the defense position. As for the Browns, while they have been blown out, we also just saw their opponent, the Bengals, put up a measly 17 points against the Giants. So, despite my original biases, there are some good punt options this week.
