Welcome to Pittsburgh, Russell Wilson

There’s a new chef in town! Much to the shock of Pittsburgh Steelers fans everywhere, Russell Wilson has chosen to don the black and gold. And would you believe it? He’s signed for a measly $1.2 million, the league minimum, no less! But fear not because the generous Denver Broncos are kindly footing the rest of the bill from his previous contract. It’s almost like they’re paying him to play against them when the Steelers face off against the Broncos this season. Oh, the irony!

Russell Wilson Signs With The Pittsburgh Steelers

Now, naturally, this move has left fans scratching their heads, wondering why on earth Russell? Could it be the allure of Steel City? Or perhaps the magnetic personality of Coach Tomlin? No, no, it’s probably just the money talking. The Steelers rarely make trades—except, you know, when they’re trying to offload troublesome players like Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell. But hey, who needs consistency when you can have Russell Wilson?

And let’s not forget Russell’s “unique” personality. Sure, he may look like the epitome of locker-room leadership, but reports of his special treatment at the Broncos’ facility raise a few eyebrows. Having his own office on the coaches’ floor? Oh, how humble of him! But fear not, Steelers fans, because surely Coach Tomlin has laid the groundwork for Russell to bless us mere mortals with his presence and leadership.

But hey, at least Russell brings some much-needed skills to the team. With his ability to work with an empty backfield and read defenses, he might just be the savior the Steelers need. And who cares if he’s a bit shorter than your average quarterback? He’ll just have to make do with his fancy play-action skills.

All this for a bargain price of $1.2 million! It’s practically a steal! So here’s to hoping Russell can channel his inner Baker Mayfield and lead the Steelers to glory, all while staying as humble as ever. Steeler Country, Let’s get “coked.”

(Coke is a steel industry term/ingredient. About 1,000 pounds of coke are needed to process a ton of iron, an amount which represents more than 50% of an integrated steel mill’s total energy use. My family has been in the steel industry for over 40 years…so I impart some useful knowledge unto you.)
