Stream of the Week: QB, TE, and Defense | Week 17 Rankings

We have reached the final week of the fantasy season and the last week for this article. Thank you to everyone who checked in every week. I had a blast writing this series all year, and hopefully, these Week 17 streams from our QB, TE, and Defense rankings help you win a trophy and secure a bag. It was a long season, but I think it became clear that you can win your league with a different QB, TE, or DEF every single week, and you should work that into next year’s draft strategy. But it’s too early to worry about next year. Let’s win this ‘ship!

Accountability

No worse time for bad luck to catch up to me than the Week 16 semi-finals. Things went well enough at QB, but our Stream of the Week tight end was inactive, and all five of my Defense choices played TERRIBLY. In regards to Hunter Henry, if you pivoted to his backup, Mike Geiscki, you still got a pretty good week. As far as the Colts, I have no idea how you can play that badly against Atlanta when you were the 4th-best fantasy defense on the season. The full-year numbers speak for themselves, but it was a rough week, and I’m sorry if it cost you a championship appearance.

Week 17 Streams of the Week

Reminder: All picks were available in over 50% of ESPN leagues after waivers had run on Wednesday.

Quarterback

Stream of the Week – Derek Carr @ TB

Carr was the QB1 overall last week, and he wouldn’t even be this available on any other week. But since most managers no longer care about waivers, streamers have a dream matchup for the championship round. Tampa Bay allows about 22 fantasy points per game to QBs, 8th-most in the league. Since Week 11, five teams have thrown for 250 yards or more against them, and six QBs have scored at least one TD. That’s an excellent floor for Carr, and we saw his 30-point ceiling last week.

Tight Ends

Stream of the Week – Chigoziem Okonkwo @ HOU

There are no great options at TE this week, but Okonkwo is getting more involved in this Tennessee offense, and Houston is a great matchup. They give up the 3rd-most points to TEs, and David Njoku finished in the Top 5 against them last week. Njoku beat them for six catches, 44 yards, and a TD. Just two weeks ago, Okonkwo registered three catches for 36 yards against Houston. If you add a TD to that total, you have a Top-10 week to end a disappointing season for Chig.

DEF/ST

Stream of the Week – Los Angeles Rams @ NYG

The QB carousel of nightmares continues for the Giants, and they are back to Tyrod Taylor. While Taylor played well enough in two starts, he also gave up 7 and 9 points to the opposing fantasy defenses. Overall, only the Jets give up more points to fantasy defenses on the season. It has been a rough season for NY/NJ offenses. Over the last seven games, the Giants have allowed 36 total sacks and seven turnovers. That is five sacks and one takeaway on average for their DEF opponents, totaling about 10 fantasy points per game. The Rams are fighting for a playoff spot and should come into this game ready to beat up on a lesser opponent.
