Wide Receiver Matchups | Week 14 Fantasy Football

Week 14 WR Matchups

Week 14 is here, the last week for byes and likely the last week before your playoffs begin.  This is when football gets good and means so much more. So, let’s look at a few WR matchups I find interesting in Week 14.

Courtland Sutton vs. LA Chargers

Ok, I’ve got to talk about Courtland Sutton first because if you have him on your fantasy team, you probably got him in a very late round, and he’s been performing extremely well. This week will be no exception. This is a division game that the Broncos have to win if they want a chance at the playoffs. Sutton will be lining up against Michael Davis. With Deane Leonard out, they are starting Davis. Davis is coming back after being injured for a couple of weeks. Before his injury, his numbers were not good. He’s giving up 64% of catches thrown his way, allows over 13 yards a catch, and has allowed five touchdowns in nine games that he’s played. Sutton is a must-start this week.

CeeDee Lamb vs. Philadelphia Eagles

I saw this earlier on Twitter and had been looking at numbers on this game last night; Dallas vs. Philly. So I’m going to break this down for you. Of course, the obvious first player is CeeDee Lamb. Lamb has been great this season. The last time he played Philly was in Week 9, when he had 16 targets, 11 receptions, and 191 yards. He didn’t see the end zone, but this week will be different. Lamb is going against Bradley Roby. Roby has only played five games this season, and in the last three games, Roby has allowed a 62% catch rate, 9.5 yards a catch, and gets targeted five times a game. Roby missed Weeks 1-4 and Weeks 7-10, so the numbers on him are a little scarce.

Michael Gallup vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Next is Michael Gallup going against James Bradberry. Bradberry is allowing over 15 points a game to wide receivers. He allows a 54% catch rate he gets targeted on average 16 times a game. He allows 12 yards a catch and has given up nine touchdowns this season. Last week he only had three targets and allowed two catches, 55 yards, and a touchdown.

Brandin Cooks vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Then we have Brandin Cooks going against Darius Slay. Slay allows 17 points a game to wide receivers. He also gets targeted on average 16 times a game and allows a 64% catch rate and 11 yards a catch. The cornerbacks in Philly are not good, and this is why the offense has to score so many points.

A.J. Brown vs. Dallas Cowboys

Now let’s look at the other side and see what Philly is working with. A.J. Brown will be going against DaRon Bland. Bland gives up the most points of the three cornerbacks in Dallas with 11 points a game. Bland allows a 61% catch rate, is targeted on average six times a game, and allows 12 yards a catch. Brown should be Hurt’s #1 target this week.

DeVonta Smith vs. Dallas Cowboys

Next, we have DeVonta Smith going against Stephon Gilmore. Gilmore, despite being in the league for a very long time, can still defend very well. Gilmore only allows a 50% catch rate, gets targeted on average 5 times a game, and has only allowed two touchdowns this season.

Quez Watkins vs. Dallas Cowboys

Lastly, we have Quez Watkins, who doesn’t get much play at all that will remain this week. He’s going against Jourdan Lewis. Lewis only allows under nine points a game to wide receivers. He only gets targeted four times a game and allows a 60% catch rate, but he has given up three touchdowns this season. Philly is going to have a hard time with this group tomorrow, while Dallas can go crazy on any of these cornerbacks. This is going to be a fun division game and hopefully get you a lot of fantasy points.
