We have reached Week 7, and tensions are at a fever pitch. Everybody is hurt, and 20% of the league is on bye. Chances are that half your league is streaming this week, and we only have 26 teams to choose from. Should be fun. Can’t imagine this goes horribly wrong at all. Let’s jump into my QB, TE, and Defense streaming picks from our Week 7 rankings.
A Quick Note: You will notice that I do not cover Kicker streams. We leave that to the experts, so check out Linda’s rankings.
Accountability
Words cannot express how frustrated I am with fantasy tight ends right now. Quarterbacks? We’re doing well. My Stream of the Week is scoring 19 fantasy points per game, and my best pick averages out to be the QB1. Defense? CRUSHING IT. If you are following my advice, you have scored more points than the current DEF1 in your league. Then we have tight ends. Last week, only one of my five picks managed more than two fantasy points. Whether it’s my fault or theirs, this sucks.
Last Week SOTW | Last Week Best Pick | SOTW Season Avg | Best Pick Season Avg | |
---|---|---|---|---|
QB | 14 fantasy points | 32 fantasy points | 17 fantasy points | 26 fantasy points |
Rank | QB17 | QB5 | QB16 | QB2 |
TE | 21 fantasy points | 21 fantasy points | 11 fantasy points | 16 fantasy points |
Rank | TE1 | TE1 | TE7 | TE1 |
DEF | 0 fantasy points | 16 fantasy points | 12 fantasy points | 16 fantasy points |
Rank | DEF29 | DEF2 | DEF2 | DEF1 |
Note: Best Pick is the one of my five picks that scores the most points each week. I might not have called them Stream of the Week, but hopefully, you did!

Reminder: All picks were available in over 50% of ESPN leagues after waivers had run on Wednesday.
Quarterback
Stream of the Week – Sam Howell @ NYG
Howell has been on a tear, and if you check his schedule, it might not stop any time soon. Over his last four games, he is averaging 25 fantasy points and is the QB4 overall. This week, he gets the Giants, who give up 18 points per game to fantasy QBs. If you take out Week 1, where they shut Dak Prescott down, it’s over 20 per game. They also allowed two QB touchdowns in three of their last four games. Howell should keep his hot streak alive this week, and you might be able to start him all the way until his Week 13 bye.
Other Options
- Matthew Stafford vs. PIT
- Baker Mayfield vs. ATL
- Joshua Dobbs @ SEA
- Derek Carr vs. JAX (Thursday Night)
Tight Ends
Stream of the Week – Luke Musgrave @ DEN
What a gift after a bye week. Musgrave was on more waivers than he should have been because the Packers were off in Week 6. Now, he gets the Denver Broncos, who give up the most fantasy points to tight ends. They just got torched by Taylor Swift’s boyfriend for 124 yards but also gave up 64 yards to Tyler Conklin in Week 5 and 86 yards and two TDs from Cole Kmet in Week 4. Everyone is beating them. Musgrave came alive in Week 5, reeling in six balls on seven targets. Now, after a week off, he should be 100% healthy and likely a big part of this offense in Week 7.
Other Options
- Pat Freiermuth @ LAR
- Taysom Hill vs. JAX (Thursday Night)
- Jonnu Smith @ TB
- Logan Thomas @ NYG
DEF/ST
Stream of the Week – Jacksonville Jaguars @ NO (Thursday Night)
Thursday night games are a gamble, but you’re usually better off betting on defense. The Saints have given up multiple sacks in every game this season and will be down three offensive linemen and their starting tight end in this game. They’ve also turned the ball over in 66% of their games, including multiple turnovers in two of their last three. The Jags are the DEF8 this season and average two sacks per game. They have also recorded multiple takeaways in five games and scored 8-plus fantasy points in four of those games. They have a safe floor and an amazing ceiling if one of those takeaways finds the endzone.
Other Options
- Seahawks vs. ARZ
- Lions @ BAL
- Buccaneers vs. ATL
- Packers @ DEN
