Recap of DFS Academy for Week 5

Top of the Class

Players that are priced $8,000 or more who we are targeting in Cash Games (Austin) and Tournaments (Kelly)

  • Austin
    • Justin Jefferson (DraftKings: $9,400 / FanDuel: $9,200)
      • Particularly on FanDuel
      • Only one game without double-digit targets (still had 9).
      • 3.5 point underdogs
        • But honestly, there’s a good chance I don’t have anyone priced this high this week
  • Kelly
    • Lamar Jackson ($7.8K DraftKings / $8.4K FanDuel)
      • Priciest player among my faves this week. The higher salary is likely keeping DFS managers away. He’s on just 3%-4% of rosters this week. But after watching a Browns defense that was supposed to shut down the Ravens Offense… I’m in on Lamar every day of the week. Averaging 22-23 FPPG.

Band Nerds 

Mid-tier players priced between $6,000 and $8,000 who we are targeting in Cash Games (Austin) and Tournaments (Kelly)

  • Austin
    • David Montgomery (DraftKings: $6,600 / FanDuel: $8,500)
    • Bijan Robinson (DraftKings: $7,700 / FanDuel: $8,200)
  • Kelly
    • Mark Andrews ($5.5K DraftKings / $7.6K FanDuel)
      • My boyfriend’s back and you’re gonna be in trouble.
    • De’Von Achane ($6.1K DraftKings / $7.5K FanDuel)
      • Let’s all roster him together just for the points. This isn’t where we’ll differentiate our GPP rosters and I’m ok with that.

Bookworms 

Value plays priced between $4,000 and $6,000 we are targeting in Cash Games (Austin) and Tournaments (Kelly)

  • Austin
    • Zay Flowers (DraftKings: $5,500 / FanDuel: $5,900)
      • He’s the number one. Pittsburgh gives up the second most points to receivers.
    • Breece Hall (DraftKings: $5,400 / FanDuel: $6,500)
      • Best matchup for running backs
      • No pitch count – according to Coach Robert Saleh
  • Kelly
    • Breece Hall ($5.4K DraftKings / $6.5K FanDuel)
      • Apparently… according to a fancy graph, he gets another 6 yrds after initial contact on his runs. That blows the rest of the RB field away – other than Achane, who’s getting nearly 1 additional yard.
    • Sam LaPorta ($5.0K DraftKings / $6.0K FanDuel)
      • Breaking all kinds of records…

C’s get Degrees 

Punt players of the week (less than $4,000) in Cash Games (Austin) and Tournaments (Kelly)

  • Austin
    • Calvin Austin (DraftKings: $3,500 / FanDuel: $4,800)
      • 5-6 targets per game
      • Baltimore has been middle of the road against receivers 
    • Dalton Schultz (DraftKings: $3,400 / FanDuel: $4,900)
      • I’m going to keep picking on my Atlanta Falcons and treat this as a happiness hedge 
      • Fourth most points to TEs while facing Hayden Hurst, Luke Musgrave, Sam LaPorta, and Evan Engram
  • Kelly
    • Calvin Austin ($3.5K DraftKings / $4.8K FanDuel)
      • I like the value here. He had one “off” week in week 2, but played 90% of snaps last week, so there’s lots of opportunity. 
    • Indianapolis Colts ($3.2K DraftKings / $3.8K FanDuel)
      • If the Colts can limit the damage from Hopkins, they’ll be golden. They’re averaging 7.6 FPPG. I’ll take it. Especially at this price. 
    • Throwing a curve ball – why not Michael Wilson? Because nobody believes in the Cardinals or Josh Dobbs?
      • Wilson is on the rise ($3.7K DraftKings / $5.3K FanDuel)
