Recap of DFS Academy for Week 4

Top of the Class

Players that are priced $8,000 or more who we are targeting in Cash Games (Austin) and Tournaments (Kelly)

  • Austin
    • Davante Adams (DraftKings: $8,000 / FanDuel: $8,100)
      • Chargers have given up the most points to receivers through three weeks
      • Coming off a week with 20 targets. Probably doesn’t get that many, but even if he gets 10 he can 3x his salary.
  • Kelly
    • Justin Herbert ($7.8 DraftKings / $8.6K FanDuel)
      • Sexy and Dependable. He’s averaging over 26 FPPG (fantasy points per game)
    • Keenan Allen ($7.9 DraftKings / $9.5 FanDuel) 
    • Davante Adams ($8.0 DraftKings / $8.1 FanDuel)
      • Similar salary ranges, both have rostership of over 20%, both have projected points 18+, and both face stinky defenses this week. You can’t go wrong with either one. If you’re going to stack Allen and Herbert, it makes the most sense on DraftKings. 

Band Nerds 

Mid-tier players priced between $6,000 and $8,000 who we are targeting in Cash Games (Austin) and Tournaments (Kelly)

  • Austin
    • Joe Burrow (DraftKings: $6,500 / FanDuel: $7,200)
      • Have you heard enough about the Titans pass funnel defense?
      • Last week, I said if Deshaun Watson does well against the Titans, it’s time to roll out every QB. Welp, it’s time.
    • Only one this week. Taking a stars and scrubs approach.
  • Kelly
    • Kirk Cousins ($7.1 DraftKings / $7.9 FanDuel)
      • Not sexy, but certainly dependable. Love his consistency, averaging 28 FPPG.
    • Raheem Mostert ($6.5 DraftKings / $7.9 FanDuel)
      • This feels like a trick, but I’m all in. Manageable salary and low rostership of 5 percent on DK and 1 percent on FD. I’m guessing it’s the tough Bills Defense that’s keeping people away.

Bookworms 

Value plays priced between $4,000 and $6,000 we are targeting in Cash Games (Austin) and Tournaments (Kelly)

  • Austin
    • Podcast Exclusive: Josh Palmer (DraftKings: $4,000 / FanDuel: $6,100)
      • He’s moving up the depth chart. Herbert is playing at an MVP level. And the salary savings are just too good to pass on.
    • Adam Thielen (DraftKings: $4,500 / FanDuel: $6,800)
      • Averaging 11.5 targets over the past two weeks
      • Vikings are giving up the third most points to receivers
      • Carolina are underdogs
    • Alexander Mattison (DraftKings: $5,800 / FanDuel: $7,200)
      • Carolina Panthers are giving up the third most points to running backs and the Vikings are 4.5 point favorites.
  • Kelly
    • Alexander Mattison ($5.8 DraftKings / $7.2 FanDuel)
      • Averaging 16 touches per game and he’s playing 80 percent of the snaps. He’s a versatile pick for both Cash and GPP tournaments due to his consistency of play and midrange rostership of 11 percent.
    • James Conner ($5.9 DraftKings / $6.3 FanDuel)
      • Averaging 19.3 touches per week and playing around 75 percent of the snaps. Don’t underestimate this play. Rostership projected at 4- to 5 percent.

C’s get Degrees 

Punt players of the week (less than $4,000) in Cash Games (Austin) and Tournaments (Kelly)

  • Austin
    • Pat Freiermuth (DraftKings: $3,400 / FanDuel: $5,500)
      • I just need to save some money okay?
      • Houston is middle of the road against TEs.
    • Podcast Exclusive: Chig Okonkwo (DraftKings: $3,100 / FanDuel: $4,700)
      • It’s been rough, but the Bengals are giving up the sixth most points to TEs right now and Tennessee will be playing from behind.
  • Kelly
    • Jake Ferguson ($3.5 DraftKings / $5.1 FanDuel)
    • Pat Freiermuth (DraftKings: $3,400 / FanDuel: $5,500)
      • Both of these TEs are a great way to save some of your salary cap space and manage 7 or 8 fantasy points.
