Stream of the Week: QB, TE, and Defense | Week 17 Rankings

We’ve made it to Week 17 and our final Stream of the Week article of the season. It has been a wild ride, more on that in the Accountability section, but I appreciate every one of you that put your trust in this process. It has not been easy, but if you’re reading this, you’re probably in your league’s championship, so you know it can work. As always, here are my Top 5 Streaming options from our Week 17 QB, TE, and Defense rankings.

I’ll leave you with a quote from one of the best sports movies of all time…

Accountability

Stop me when you’ve heard this: We hit on QB and missed on TE and DEF. The predictability of my futility is comical at this point. As always, we are comparing ourselves to the average score of the QB12, TE12, and DEF12 for the season. They typically score 34 fantasy points, and we scored 31. Not bad, thanks to Gardner Minshew.

Equally as predictable is that I made some really good picks; I just didn’t call them my Stream of the Week. We call this the Best of the Bunch, and they scored an insane 63 fantasy points last week. On the season, we could have built the QB1, TE2, and DEF1 with my five picks. It’s a gift and a curse at the same time. I make the correct picks, but I put them in the Honorable Mentions instead of the Stream of the Week.

Quarterback

Stream of the Week – Jared Goff vs CHI

I was tempted to simply write, “The Lions are at home” and walk away. If you’ve followed along this season, you know that Jared Goff is an All-Pro QB within the confines of Ford Field. I pulled his Home/Road splits below from Pro Football Reference:

The difference in TD performance is startling. If Goff played every game at home at this pace, he’d throw for 4700 yards and 42 touchdowns. Only Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow are on pace to beat those numbers. Goff is coming off a rare great road game, where he threw for 355 yards and three TDs @ CAR, and the last time he faced Chicago, on the road in Week 10, he put up a decent 17 fantasy points. Don’t be surprised if he doubles that score this week.

Other Options

  • Gardner Minshew vs NO
  • Mike White @ SEA
  • Teddy Bridgewater @ NE
  • Brock Purdy @ LV

Tight Ends

Stream of the Week – Tyler Conklin @ SEA

I was tempted to simply write, “Zach Wilson is not the QB” and walk away, lol. Mike White takes back over, and that means the world to this offense. White threw for 952 yards and three TDs in three starts this year. Wilson was at 1688 and had just six TDs in nine games. In those three starts with White, Conklin only averaged six fantasy points, but he was also at six targets per game, and that is the kind of volume you hope for when streaming. That volume becomes a lot more valuable when facing the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle allows the 2nd-most fantasy points to the tight end position, and 11 different TEs have scored 10+ fantasy points against them. Conklin has a six-point floor and will score at least 12 if he finds the endzone.

Other Options

  • Taysom Hill @ PHI
  • Noah Fant vs NYJ
  • Greg Dulcich @ KC
  • Trey McBride @ ATL

Defense

Stream of the Week – Jacksonville Jaguars @ HOU

This was my biggest conundrum for the second-straight week. It was a close race between the Jags and the Giants, but I am betting on a statement game from Jacksonville against a division rival. It helps that Houston has arguably the worst offense in football. They also give up the 4th-most fantasy points to D/ST, and Jacksonville scored five fantasy points against them back in Week 5. That game was boring. The Jags only managed one sack and no turnovers but held the Texans to just 13 total points. The Texans have turned the ball over in 10 straight games heading into Week 17 and have 2+ giveaways in five of those games. For their part, the Jags have 13 sacks and 10 takeaways in their last five games. We should easily see them double or triple their fantasy output from the last time these two teams faced off.

Other Options

  • Giants vs IND
  • Dolphins @ NE
  • Commanders vs CLE
  • Browns @ WAS
