Pick ‘Em Up: Week 13 Waiver Wire

Week 13 Waiver Wire

So, we need to talk about the Week 13 Waiver Wire. It’s bad. Real bad. This tends to happen this close to the end of the season. The bad teams stop paying attention, so their rosters sit stagnant. This means they stop dropping good players for every flavor of the week. The good teams tend to roster and horde any decent players left, and we end up with very stale waivers. There are a few good players out there, but they are few and far between.

There were no teams on bye last week, so it’s unlikely anybody was desperation dropped. However, keep an eye on the drop list this week, as the Cardinals and Panthers have the week off. Managers in bad positions might drop some of their better players if they need to fill a hole.

Quick Note: All players listed are available in around 50% of ESPN leagues. While not everyone plays on ESPN, studies show most do. So, if they’re available there, they’re likely available on your platform. Pick ‘Em Up!

Week 13 Waiver Wire

Typically, I break this down by position and try to give you a Top 5 at QB, RB, WR, and TE. Yeah, that ain’t happening. Waivers are weak, so here are my overall Top 5 options, with a few honorable mentions thrown in for good measure.

Treylon Burks – 62% Available

The rookie is finally coming into his own after a tough start to his career. He’s at 20 targets over his last three games and scored his first TD last week. It was a fumble recovery TD, but you gotta respect the hustle. Ryan Tannehill is starting to play better, and Burks is the #1 in this offense.

Van Jefferson – 85% Available

What. A. Mess. Matt Stafford is D-U-N. Cooper Kupp is hurt. Allen Robinson? Probably D-U-N, definitely out for the season. The team also cut Darrell Henderson, and Tyler Higbee is dealing with an injury. So basically, Van Jefferson is all that remains. The Rams are awful, but he is likely their WR1 for the rest of the season. Jefferson has scored two TDs in his last three games and led the team in targets last week.

Kyren Williams – 80% Available

As mentioned above, the Rams are GARBAGE, but Williams has a chance to prove himself to end the season. As a 5th-Round pick, he is playing for a job next season. He led the team in carries in Week 12 and has eight targets over his last three games. The ceiling is low, but the floor might not be too bad. He is almost certainly the best RB available on most waiver wires.

Deshaun Watson – 56% Available

If you choose not to sign this asshole due to personal reasons, I totally get it. From a fantasy standpoint, he’s worth the gamble for QB-needy teams. The Browns are throwing far more than expected with Jacoby Brissett, and that number should increase with Watson. He is a former top-5 fantasy QB and has a lot to prove moving forward. I’ve already said more than I’d prefer about him, but I will note that he looked horrible in the preseason, in case you need another reason not to add him.

Donovan Peoples-Jones – 57% Available

With the Browns throwing more, DPJ has come into his own this season. While Amari Cooper is the clear WR1, Peoples-Jones averages around six targets per game and has recorded 50 or more yards in seven of his last eight games. If the Browns do throw more with Deshaun Watson, Peoples-Jones stands to benefit. He is already the WR44 in fantasy, so he could finish the season as a high-end WR3, maybe even hitting the Top 25.

Honorable Mentions – If you have FAAB left, why not?
