Stream of the Week: QB, TE, and Defense | Week 5 Rankings

Week 5 Defense Rankings

Usually, I’d write a short intro about how streaming is the best and that you’re cooler than everyone else because you’re streaming. While that is super true, it’s not all that important. You’re not here for the intro anyway. In case you’ve missed mine or the other hundred or so posts, our good friend Faith needs your help. She was affected terribly by Hurricane Ian, and her friends have set up a GoFundMe to assist her since her insurance will not. It is linked below, and you should help if you can, even if it’s just by sharing it yourself. After that, check out my favorite streams from our Week 5 QB, TE, and Defense rankings.

Accountability

You know what? Ice Cube was right; it was a good day. I can only assume in his infinite wisdom that Mr. Cube was referring to Week 4 of the 2022 NFL Season for streaming purposes. Damn, he’s good…and so I am…this week!

In Week 4, our Stream of the Week QB, available in 50% of leagues, was the best QB in all of fantasy, as Jared Goff dropped 41 fantasy points! We ended up hitting on 3 of 5 QBs and TEs, but only one DEF. All in all, it was an incredible 53 fantasy points for the week. Now that we are four weeks in, we will compare ourselves to the current QB12, TE12, and DEF12. They are averaging a combined 37 points this season. So, we smashed them in Week 4. On the season, this week gave us a much-needed boost. We have built the QB12, TE17, and DEF19 using my Streams of the Week. Better, but still much room for improvement.

Our Best of Bunch shows just how great living this stream can be if done correctly. This score represents the best of my five picks. I called them, but I didn’t call them my Stream of the Week. So far, we could have built the QB1, TE10, and DEF1. Read that again. If you choose from my Top 5 better than I, you can have all the finest things in life!

Quarterback

Stream of the Week – Zach Wilson vs MIA

Let me start by saying that Wilson picked up a Questionable tag just after I decided to make him my Stream of the Week QB. It’s worrisome, but I’m still rolling with him. The Dolphins bleed points to fantasy QBs, giving up the 2nd-most on the season and 28 per game. Over the last three weeks, they’ve allowed over 250 yards and 2+ TDs in each game. Wilson looked decent in his first game back, throwing for 252 yards and a TD. He also caught a TD on a trick play, giving him 20 fantasy points on the week. While I don’t expect that every week, 250 and 2 is well within the realm of possibility against this defense.

Tight Ends

Stream of the Week – Logan Thomas vs TEN

To put it plainly, the Titans are not very good on defense, and I like almost every Commander this week. Logan Thomas has been up and down, as have most streaming options…and most fantasy tight ends in general. However, he is averaging five targets per game and has hit seven fantasy points in three of four games. Tennessee is allowing six receptions, 73 yards, and almost a TD per game to the position on average. In fact, five TEs have already scored 7+ against them in just four games. Last week, both Mo Alie-Cox and Kylen Granson scored 10+ in the same game. Alie-Cox also scored two TDs. If Thomas is average against them, it will still be a respectable 10 fantasy points. If he adds a TD or two, he will be a top-5 tight end.

Defense

Stream of the Week – Jacksonville Jaguars vs HOU

This was a tough decision between Jacksonville and Minnesota. The Vikings have a better matchup, but Jacksonville is a better defense. I went with the talent. Houston is not exactly giving up a ton of points to fantasy defenses. They rank 17th in points allowed, only averaging around 7 points. However, they have allowed 3+ sacks in three of four games this year, and Davis Mills has thrown two interceptions in each of their last two games. To their credit, the Jags lead the league in INTs and are in the top half for sacks. They’ve also already had a five-sack game this season, so they can get after the QB. If Jacksonville can combine those features into one game, they will be a top-12 play, just like the Chargers were against Houston last week.
