Fantasy Football Streams of the Week: Week 16

Week 16 Defense Rankings

This is it! After 15 weeks of playing this streaming game, we are in the championship (hopefully). I’ve said this before but again: if you streamed even one of these positions all season long and made the ‘ship, CONGRATS! Streaming takes extra work but you can give yourself a HUGE positional advantage over guys who didn’t draft top players but stuck with JAGs at QB, TE, and DEF throughout this season. Because we love you, and because the rostership percentages for all of these guys are skyrocketing, we are putting this final addition out for you one day early. Good luck to you all and I’ll leave you with one of my favorite movie quotes. From Major League “I guess there’s only one thing left to do. WIN THE WHOLE F’ING THING!”

Accountability

With just one week to go, it’s safe to say I’m ecstatic with my DEF picks this season, happy with my TEs, and wondering what happened when it comes to QBs. Week 15 was a bit of a letdown for my top picks, especially after a solid Week 14, but the position groups did well enough, outside of TE. TE is paying the price for my recent improvement at QB. We will be doing accountability shows for the month of January on Club Fantasy, so tune in to see where we stand after Week 16!

Quarterbacks

SOTW – Jalen Hurts @ DAL
I’m not sure how much explanation is really needed here — have you watched this kid play? He is a superstar and is likely to decimate this Dallas defense. I’m also expecting Dallas to put up some points so this could be a full-blown shootout. The only really puzzling thing is– how is Hurts available in over 50% of leagues on both Yahoo and ESPN? He’s dominated fantasy football for two straight weeks and Dallas gives up the 9th most points to fantasy QBs. Oh well, the mistake of half of the fantasy football world has made for my easiest Stream of the Week of 2020, and just in time for the finals! His rostership % is growing by the minute, so add him immediately, if you have the chance.

2. Baker Mayfield @ NYJ
3. Andy Dalton vs PHI
4. Mitch Trubisky @ JAX
5. Tua Tagovailoa @ LV

Tight Ends

SOTW – Austin Hooper @ NYJ
So, this is kind of redundant from my Hurts explanation… but it’s the Jets. They give up the most points to fantasy TEs and Cleveland is playing so very well right now. Hooper got himself involved last week against the Giants, grabbing five balls for 41 yards and a TD. The Jets have allowed TEs to score 10+ fantasy points on ten different occasions this season, plus they allowed that 50-burger from Darren Waller just three weeks ago. The Browns are playing to win their division and Baker Mayfield will be looking to his TE in this matchup. There is a worry that David Njoku or Harrison Bryant steal some production, but I’m confident enough that I made a Water Bet with Lauren Carpenter on the show this week that Hooper would outscore both of his backups combined! Hooper is also available in almost exactly 50% of leagues on both platforms, but that number is shrinking quickly.

2. Jordan Akins vs CIN
3. Zach Ertz @ DAL
4. Cole Kmet @ JAX
5. Tyler Eifer vs CHI

DEF/ST

SOTW – Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs DET
The Buccaneers fantasy D/ST has been rather disappointing lately, at least compared to their early-season success. A game with Detroit feels like a perfect “get right” matchup. The Lions give up the 15th most points to fantasy D/STs and average almost three sacks allowed and over one turnover per game. The Lions are a solid running team but that happens to be Tampa Bay’s strength on DEF too. If they can use other assets to slow down the passing game, they will be set in this one. Marvin Jones shouldn’t present the problem we’ve seen from other WR1s, but TJ Hockenson could be an issue. Even still, I can’t imagine Hockenson scoring enough to really hurt the Buccaneers’ DEF in fantasy. The Lions are allowing D/ST to score 9+ fantasy points on average over their last five games and, like Hurts and Hooper, the Buccaneers DEF is available in just about 50% of leagues regardless of platform. **Editor’s note: Lions interim HC Darrell Bevell will be unavailable to coach on Saturday, as he was deemed a close contact and is being placed on COVID/Reserve list. WR coach Robert Prince will fill in as HC and QB coach Sean Ryan will be the play caller. So, um, dial up the Bucs DEF.

2. Arizona Cardinals vs SF
3. New England Patriots vs BUF
4. Houston Texans vs CIN
5. Los Angeles Chargers vs DEN
