Fantasy Football Streams of the Week: Week 10

Week 10 Defense Rankings

By The Stream Master General, Ryan Weisse

Look, I gotta be honest with you here: You might already be too late. To give you a glimpse at how the sausage is made, I start this article first thing Wednesday morning to choose my Streams of the Week for our show. At about 6 am Wednesday, every player on this list was available in 50% or more leagues on either Yahoo, ESPN, or both. That’s my standard to list someone as a stream-worthy candidate. Later in the day, about noon, every single one of their roster percentages had jumped over 50% and by 6 pm on Wednesday, some were over 70% on Yahoo. The players were chosen, the graphic was created, but by the time you read this, the top guys might be long gone. There is some good news built into this though. You’ll see in my Accountability section that typically one of the four guys that I didn’t name as Stream of the Week tends to outperform my selected top-guy. The early bird gets the worm but the 2nd mouse gets the cheese!

Accountability

Last week was a big improvement on a dreadful Week 8. We hit on 9 of 15 picks and my SOTW TE and DEF both finished in top-10. I still suck at QB…at least for my SOTW pick. The other four guys did fine and Drew Lock, who was my #2 pick, WENT OFF. You can tell by my Best of the Bunch score that I’m good at finding diamonds in the rough…just bad at calling them diamonds!

Quarterbacks

SOTW – Jared Goff vs SEA
After Josh Allen went off for 415 yards and four total TDs against Seattle last week, how do you not start Jared Goff everywhere? The Rams are coming off of a bye, which Goff hopefully used remembering how to play QB, and should have to throw a ton to keep up in this game. The Seahawks give up the most fantasy points to QBs and haven’t allowed fewer than 18 fantasy points to any QB this season. Goff is likely to turn the ball over — he has eight turnovers on the season — but should still throw for 300+ yards and 2-3 TDs, which will certainly land him in the top-15. Goff’s rostership % is rising by the minute, and as of now he is only available in 24% of Yahoo leagues but 53% of ESPN leagues. Thank you, ESPN managers, for this streaming gift.

2. Baker Mayfield vs HOU
3. Teddy Bridgewater vs TB
4. Alex Smith @ DET
5. Drew Lock @ LV

Tight Ends

SOTW – Austin Hooper vs HOU
This will be Hooper’s first game back from the IR after having his appendix removed. Earlier this season, I was down on him, but the Browns offense has started to play much better and, with Odell Beckham out for the year, there are now more targets available for Hooper. Hooper was the TE6 from Weeks 3-6, and Harrison Bryant was the TE6 from 7-8 when he was replacing Hooper. Basically, the starting TE for the Browns has top-6 written all over him. It helps that Houston gives up the 10th most points to fantasy TEs on the season. Hooper can be had in just about 50% of leagues on both Yahoo and ESPN, but again, that percentage is shrinking by the minute.

2. Jordan Reed @ NO
3. Darren Fells @ CLE
4. Greg Olsen @ LAR
5. Irv Smith @ CHI **NOTE – OUT THIS WEEK – Full pivot to Kyle Rudolph**

DEF/ST

SOTW – New Orleans Saints vs SF
A backup QB. A backup RB. At least one backup WR. A backup TE. And at least two backup offensive linemen. That is what you are facing when you take on the San Francisco 49ers. Everybody is hurt or has come into contact with COVID. After a solid start to the season, the 49ers have given up 49 fantasy points to DEF in their last six games, and one of those was a zero. So in five games, they are allowing almost 10 fantasy points per game. That would be a lock for top-10 and could push for top-5. The Saints just demolished Tampa Bay and are on a roll heading into this game. It could get ugly. AGAIN, when I wrote this, the Saints were available in 50% of Yahoo and ESPN leagues but that number is shrinking as you read this!

2. Green Bay Packers vs JAX
3. Minnesota Vikings @ CHI
4. Miami Dolphins vs LAC
5. Philadelphia Eagles @ NYG
