Fantasy Football Streams of the Week: Week 3

Week 3 Defense Rankings

By The Stream Master General, Ryan Weisse

One nice thing about being a part of the fantasy football streams of the week crowd is that you are already prepared for a plethora of injuries. Week 2 was brutal but the majority of injuries were at WR and RB. While we don’t talk about streaming those positions, knowing how to stream and work the waiver wire are invaluable tools that will help you during this time. Hopefully, you used your draft capital on good depth at RB and WR, knowing that you can get a new QB/TE/DEF every week and still be competitive. Even after waivers have run, all of the players on this list are available in at least 50% of leagues on either Yahoo or ESPN, and in some cases, both.

Accountability

Well, last week felt A LOT better than Week 1. We hit on 9 of 14 Streams (Doyle was announced out before the game) and hit on all five DEF/ST plays. We’re already seeing the fruits of our labor, with my SOTW at TE and DEF both being a top-12 play on the season…without wasting a draft pick. Let’s hope we can keep that momentum going into Week 3, but with some overall improvements, especially at QB.

Quarterbacks

SOTW – Ryan Tannehill (TEN) @ MIN
Tannehill has completed 70% of his passes and has six passing TDs to zero INTs on the season. He looks more like Kirk Cousins than Kirk Cousins does right now. The Vikings are in the top half of the league when it comes to fantasy points allowed to QBs and there is no reason to expect improvement until Danielle Hunter comes back. If Tannehill gets AJ Brown back for this one, expect another three TD game. Tannehill is available in just 49% of Yahoo leagues but 55% of ESPN.

2. Mitch Trubisky (CHI) @ ATL
3. Justin Herbert (LAC) vs CAR
4. Derek Carr (LV) @ NE
5. Baker Mayfield (CLE) vs WAS

Tight Ends

SOTW- Logan Thomas (WAS) @ CLE
The Browns give up the most points to TEs on the season and made CIN’s average TEs look good last week. Enter another average TE. Thomas isn’t anything special just yet, but he is the #2 target on this team. He was targeted nine times last week but only managed four receptions and 26 yards. That was against a tough Arizona defense, but he should find things easier in Cleveland this week. Thomas is available in at least 70% of leagues on both Yahoo and ESPN.

2. Chris Herndon (NYJ) @ IND
3. Drew Sample (CIN) @ PHI
4. Robert Tonyan (GB) vs NO
5. Jordan Reed (SF) @ NYG – If Kittle is out, Reed could be my Stream of the Week. Even if Kittle plays, Reed is stream-worthy.

DEF/ST

SOTW – Los Angeles Chargers vs CAR
Carolina was already looking like a solid matchup for fantasy DEFs before they lost Christian McCaffrey, now it’s even better. They just gave up a top-3 performance to Tampa Bay last week and there is no reason to expect different this week. The Chargers defense has played well in each of the first two weeks, vs CIN & @ KC. Both of those offenses are better than what they’ll see from Carolina in Week 3 and you can find the Chargers D/ST in 60% of ESPN leagues, 50% on Yahoo.

2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ DEN
3. Tennessee Titans @ MIN
4. Cleveland Browns vs WAS
5. Arizona Cardinals vs DET
