Week 2 Fantasy Football Waivers: Please Be Okay, Jalen Coker!

Welcome back, football! It was a WILD Week 1, and as we head into Week 2 of the NFL season, there is a chance your fantasy football team needs some help. This week’s best waiver wire pickups feature players stepping into bigger roles and potential league-winning adds you don’t want to miss. Every week, we’ll highlight our Top 5 waiver wire pickups to help you stay ahead of the competition and keep your roster strong.

A few quick notes: I use ESPN as my baseline, so players must be available in at least 50% of ESPN leagues to make the list. I’m also a proponent of streaming QB, TE, K, and DEF, so you’ll rarely see those positions here; they’re easy to snag for free after waivers. Save your FAAB! Now, let’s hit the Top 5.

Week 2 Fantasy Football Waivers

Fantasy Football Week 2 Waivers

Jalen Coker (50% Available on ESPN, 34% on Sleeper)

Full Disclosure: Coker is in a walking boot today, and this could be a terrible pickup. But he says he is fine and will play Week 2, and I am choosing to believe him. He rolled his ankle early in the game against Chicago and still finished with eight catches that he took for 138 yards and two touchdowns. While he is technically Carolina’s WR2, he will benefit from defenses focusing on Tetairoa McMillan all season long. He was the best WR in fantasy to open the season, and while I don’t expect that every week, it is a glimpse of his ceiling.

FAAB Suggestion: 20%. Likelihood you’ll be starting him in Week 5: 50%.

Kaelon Black (85% Available on ESPN, 65% on Sleeper)

The 49ers may have finally landed their complementary RB. Black had 14 carries for 65 yards on Thursday. That was actually four more carries than Christian McCaffrey. If the Niners want to save McCaffrey, Black might see 200 carries this season. He is a waiver-wire gem for those with an RB need and should be rostered by every McCaffrey owner at the very least.

FAAB Suggestion: 20%. Likelihood you’ll be starting him in Week 5: 33%.

Devaughn Vele (87% Available on ESPN, 77% on Sleeper)

I saw this one coming and tried to tell anyone who would listen. When Jordyn Tyson got hurt, it all but ensured this Saints offense would repeat what they did in 2025. For four glorious weeks last year, Vele was a top-24 receiver in fantasy. He came out in Week 1 and finished as the WR10. The thing I like most is that it was not some unrepeatable stat line like Coker. Vele had 7 catches for 69 yards and a TD. He can work that volume most weeks; the difference between him being a WR2 or a Flex is the TD. I like that.

FAAB Suggestion: 15%. Likelihood you’ll be starting him in Week 5: 45%.

Tyler Allgeier (59% Available on ESPN, 34% on Sleeper)

While Jeremiyah Love did end up playing, Allgeier out-touched him 19-13. The rookie did score a TD, but Allgeier saw enough volume to stay relevant for a bit. As Love gets healthier, this will likely devolve into a 50-50 split, but for now, the veteran seems to lead this backfield.

FAAB Suggestion: 10%. Likelihood you’ll be starting him in Week 5: 25%.

Jordan Love (58% Available on ESPN, 42% on Sleeper)

As I mentioned in the intro, I don’t always include QBs or TEs in this article, but I try to throw one in after Week 1, because someone started Kyler Murray last week. I had three choices here: Love, Tyler Shough, or Bryce Young. I went with Love because I think he has the best chance to repeat and build off his Week 1. The Packers are throwing more while they don’t have Josh Jacobs, and these WRs look good. While this volume continues, Love will be a viable fantasy option.

FAAB Suggestion: 5%. Likelihood you’ll be starting him in Week 6: 33%.
