Week 7 Waiver Wire Additions: It’s Time To Acknowledge Tyler Allgeier

Fantasy Football Waivers

It occurred to me while picking my players for this article that a disclosure might be needed. In fact, it’s probably something we should have mentioned weeks ago. While a Top 5 list is good for a quick read, there might be times when you need more waiver wire options, and we offer that in video form. Every Tuesday morning on our YouTube channel, you can catch WireTapped, where we break down all of the popular waivers and answer your questions live. If you need more from the Week 7 Waiver Wire, don’t miss the show. That said, here are my five favorite picks from Week 7.

Week 7 Waiver Wire Additions

Jared Goff, QB, Detroit Lions

Available in 17% of Yahoo leagues, 53% of ESPN leagues, and 23% of Sleeper leagues

Seeing as Goff only qualifies on ESPN, I debated even including him in this article. However, recent studies have shown that most people still play on ESPN, and that is where he is available in 53% of leagues—great job to those on Yahoo and Sleeper. My guess is that his QB20 ranking is keeping him off rosters on ESPN, but we must remember that he started slow and has already had his bye. Adding Goff likely means you don’t have to play the waivers or streaming game anymore if he can stay as hot as he’s been in his last two games. Goff is the QB3 over his last two games and is starting to look like the QB we all had high hopes for coming into this season. With the weapons around him and a pretty favorable schedule, he should stay hot right into the fantasy playoffs.

FAAB Bid: 5-10%

Tyler Allgeier, RB, Atlanta Falcons

Available in 70% of Yahoo leagues, 57% of ESPN leagues, and 60% of Sleeper leagues

Nobody likes a thorn in their side, and that is precisely how Allgeier feels to fantasy managers. We’ve been waiting for workhorse Bijan; instead, we get another timeshare. While I agree with the frustration, we also shouldn’t let a Top-40 RB sit on waivers. In fact, if you just look at the last three weeks, which includes his great Week 6 performance, Allgeier is the RB20. How he is not rostered by every Bijan Robinson manager makes no sense. If Robinson were to go down, a trend that is prevalent this season, Allgeier would be a top-10 player for any missed games. Get him now before the fantasy gods are angered.

FAAB Bid: 40-50%

Ray Davis, RB, Buffalo Bills

Available in 87% of Yahoo leagues, 97% of ESPN leagues, and 82% of Sleeper leagues

Turf toe sucks, and I do not envy James Cook right now. While he may not miss extended time, he will not be at 100% for a while, which could re-aggravate his injury and leave games early in the foreseeable future. Last night, we got a glimpse of that future. Ray Davis ran for 97 yards in his first start, adding three receptions and another 55 yards. He didn’t score a TD, but with Josh Allen, that is kind of a given. Davis looked good and, like Allgeier, needs to be added by anyone who already rosters the back in front of him. If you have Cook, you need Davis. If you don’t have Cook, you should probably steal Davis from the Cook manager. Isn’t fantasy fun?

FAAB Bid: 15-20%

Josh Downs, WR, Indianapolis Colts

Available in 52% of Yahoo leagues, 50% of ESPN leagues, and 33% of Sleeper leagues

I was a little surprised to see how available Downs was this week. Over the last three games, Downs is the WR5 in fantasy. I could probably end this blurb there. He needs to be added regardless of your feelings about the Indy passing game and QB situation. One of those three games was with Anthony Richardson. Back in Week 4, with Richardson, Downs went for eight catches, 82 yards, and a TD. He was the WR8 that week, and it’s actually a better stat line than what he’s put up with Joe Flacco. Josh Downs might be quarterback-proof, which is not something I thought I’d say this season.

FAAB Bid: 40-50%

Demario Douglas, WR, New England Patriots

Available in 93% of Yahoo leagues, 79% of ESPN leagues, and 86% of Sleeper leagues

After five weeks of next to no production from the New England passing game, we saw some life in Week 6. Drake Maye finally took over, and it appears he is smitten with Pop Douglas. Douglas was the WR8 this week, finishing with six catches, 92 yards, and his first TD of the season on nine targets. To make matters even better, the Patriots get the Jaguars and their terrible defense in Week 7. We could see another great week from Douglas and maybe even a solid end to the season if Maye can play like he did in Week 6.

FAAB Bid: 25-30%

**Bonus Picks**

Last week, I told you to add Tyrone Tracy, Ty Chandler, and JuJu Smith-Schuster, but they are all still available in more than 50% of leagues. Don’t make the same mistake twice. As always, I would also recommend you keep an eye on the byes. Last week, the Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, Miami Dolphins, and Minnesota Vikings were off, so check waivers for their players. I saw Patrick Mahomes dropped in a few leagues, if you want to ride with that mediocrity. This week, the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys are off, so watch the drops when waivers run tomorrow.
