Stream of the Week: QB, TE, and Defense | Week 13 Rankings

We are inching dangerously close to the end of the fantasy regular season. Hopefully, you’ve clinched your playoff spot and are reading this for pleasure. If not, don’t fret. Even with six teams on bye, there are some excellent streaming options. Here are the best I’ve found from our Week 13 QB, TE, and Defense rankings.

A Quick Note: You will notice that I do not cover Kicker streams. We leave that to the experts, so check out Linda’s rankings.

Accountability

When picking players or defenses from the bottom 50% of rostership, you get used to rough weeks. However, when you choose four out of five defenses correctly, and the only one you got wrong was the one you called your Stream of the Week, it still gets under your skin. Thanks, Detroit! Gardner Minshew was also overshadowed by my QB2 pick, Jordan Love, but I can live with that. Minshew still dropped a respectable 14 fantasy points. My one solace during the week was that Pat Freiermuth came out and made me look like a genius, finishing as the overall TE1 of the week. It was a decent week that could have been so much better. Check the table below for my season-long results.

Note: Best Pick is the one of my five picks that scores the most points each week. I might not have called them Stream of the Week, but hopefully, you did!

Week 13 Streams of the Week

Reminder: All picks were available in over 50% of ESPN leagues after waivers had run on Wednesday.

Quarterback

Stream of the Week – Kenny Pickett vs. ARZ

While he didn’t throw any TDs (allegedly), last week was Kenny Pickett’s best game of the season. He had his highest yardage and completion percentage, and the team looked better sans Matt Canada. We should see a further improvement against the Arizona Cardinals. They allow 22 fantasy points per game, the 6th-most in the league, and just had Matt Stafford drop four TDs on them. If NFL rules allow it, I could even see Pickett and Diontae Johnson linking up for two TDs to make up for last week!

Tight Ends

Stream of the Week – Juwan Johnson vs. DET

It’s going to be hard to match last week’s Stream of the Week production. Pat Freiermuth went off and was immediately scooped up in most leagues. The players left available in over 50% of leagues are a sketchy bunch, but I like Juwan Johnson. Detroit allows about 12 points per game to fantasy TEs and just allowed a TD to Tucker Kraft in Week 12. Johnson has seen four targets per game since his Week 8 return and jumped up to seven targets last week. With the Saints HURTING at WR, Johnson could be the primary pass-catcher in this game. He has the volume to provide a nice floor and a scenario that could lead to a great ceiling. That’s a Stream come true!

Other Options

DEF/ST

Stream of the Week – Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. CAR

Yes, Carolina is going through a massive transition after firing most members of their coaching staff, but unless this new look includes a new offensive line, it won’t change too much. The Panthers allow four sacks per game and the 5th-most fantasy points to DEF/ST. For their part, the Buccaneers have been hit-or-miss from a fantasy standpoint but do have multiple sacks in each of their last five games. They should get after Bryce Young in this game, and that pressure will likely lead to some turnovers. That’s the right kind of bet to make when it comes to streaming fantasy defenses.
